8 reasons you spend too much.
Found this article and I sorta disagree with some of their findings. The person who wrote it obviously does NOT know about Frugal Village. Actually, some of the article is mis-leading.

I agree - its misleading if one is not disciplined/trained at being frugal. But I do love their example of marketing techniques - $150 burger makes the $50 steak look like a bargain.

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

MSN never ceases to impress me with the crap articles they throw out on a daily basis. There are bits of truth in many of her points, especially if you focus on the title, "8 Reasons You Overspend." The "reasons" would only apply to someone who habitually overspends, puts everything on plastic and goes grocery shopping without a list....all things that the majority of people on FV DON'T DO. But come on MSN....a budgeting/personal finance article with some substance would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think this article was for frugal people. I save lots of money buying bulk- and yes that week the grocery bill will be larger but in the long run I save.

Thanks.....didn't agree with some of it...as it applies to me, but always good to be reminded to watch for the pitfalls.

buying in bulk seems to be my biggest pitfall. I will gladly go to Sams and pay $4 for a gallon of pickle chips and then have most of them left when I finally throw them out after a year in the fridge. I could have spent $2 on a small jar, took up less room and still had some to throw away after the year.

Not much depth or substance IMO but it's always interesting to see what others consider - different perspectives and short reminders never hurt.
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.
