Default Credit scores from US to Canada

I have a question and not sure how to word it to make sense..

Can your FICO score be transferred to Canada if you move there from the US? I realize they don't have TransUnion or Equifax...but is there a way for the US to track someone's credit report or even a creditor to go after that person if they skip out on payments and move back to Canada?? Like up and leaving their mortgage here for the bank to take over??

It was a conversation that was brought up with friends last weekend. Something I never thought about.

    Hope that made sense.

We have both TransUnion and Equifax. I don't know if they would be able to identify you as the same person though.

I don't think so. I'm not certain. I had some student loans that I defaulted on, but when I came to Canada it didn't affect me getting a credit card or the house.

Canada, the cause of, and solution to, all life’s problems.

    Wait, that's beer. Carry on.

I moved to Canada five years ago....I have no idea, but I just checked my credit score and noticed that Equifax Canada did a soft check on my USA credit. You can also have the bank look at your American credit score when buying something..
