What Category Would You Put These in Your Budget?
I'm trying to track every cent we spend, and this is where/when I start to get confused.
What category would you put 'insect repellent' and 'dish soap' in? What about shampoo, soap, and other health products?
I'm sure I'll be back with more questions, but I'll start with this.An obstacle is what comes up when you lose sight of your goal.

We'd put it in "Household"
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I have a grooming category ( shampoo, bug spray)and a household cleaning/paper category (dish soap). However for budgeting in the big picture these are in my grocery $$ category as sub categories.
I have a category for vitamins/meds as a sub category under medical.
With most programs can't you set up as many categories as you'd like?
Hope that helps~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

Household for the bug stuff, personal care for the soap etc.

What category would you put 'insect repellent' IF it is to put on you then I would put in the my Health and beauty- HBA If it is repellent to prevent them from coming in the house the I would put it in household consumables
and 'dish soap' inI put that in household consumables? What about shampoo, soap, and other health products?I put those in my health and beauty category"Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

We keep it simple at our home ... if it can be bought at our grocery store then it goes into the grocery budget.

I'd lump the bug repellent in the same category as the sun block and aloe gel - as in: Health & Beauty.
If its RAID to kill bugs etc then thats under household b/c you'd be maintaining your home.
Dishsoap would go with the household cleaners (Mr Clean, Windex & laundry detergent and TP) - grocery/general household.
Just my two cents

I had HBA and household cleaning as a sub category of groceries. But I rarely itemize to that detail anymore, so they just get classified as Grocery now.

Thanks for all your help, guys!
ANOTHER QUESTION!!!
DH gets gift $ at Christmas, for his birthday or whenever, hands it all over to me to put on our c/c at the time, then tracks what he spends in our computer so he can buy things he wants when he wants on sale or whatever. When he buys stuff (like he did a few days ago), do I track it in the budget sheet for this month or don't I? It was gift money he got months ago that got put on c/c then when we got the money which he is spending now. How do I do this?! BTW, part of the money was from Christmas gifts from my/his parents and part of the money was 'from me'. (Me is basically us because our money is joined.)An obstacle is what comes up when you lose sight of your goal.
