What are some of your favorite excuses you hear for people NOT wanting to make a budget?

My SIL: I don't want to hear the "B" word.

My Brother: We don't spend that much.
To which I replied: How come you are behind in payments then?

So lets hear them. Did you laugh? Did it make you angry? Or did you do a Ceashels?>>>

i dont do a budget then i'd have to face the truth ( usually followed by laughter )

its too hard to do ( umm its basic math skills !!)

I haven't worked there a year, so how can I make a budget?

Say WHAT? I got sucked in & tried to help. BUT then they said, we don't even know how much we spend & don't want to know!

I don't need a budget, I pay my bills monthly.

I don't make enough to have a budget.

Those sort of leave me speechless!

1 - We aren't low income so why do we need to.. ~

ok

2 - Everything gets covered, so I see no need to. ~

ok

3 - Why bother, everything is gone when we get our check anyway.. ~

ok

4 - Your in a different situation than we are.. ~

Meaning in my mind ~ we are better off than you.. I usually know their situation and it comes out that, they make more than hubby, but I also know most they have are all still owed on, and my stuff is all paid for, so I would say, I'm better off..

Those are some I've heard.. I give my opinion to them on it and let it go..

- I don't have time to mess with a budget

- budgets don't work for me

- I don't have enough money to pay the bills, much less budget

I just give them "the look" and walk away.

1. Oh,your father takes care of that kind of thing. It never held much interest for me. We've never starved yet,kid!

2. I pay cash for everything. When the monies gone thats it.

3. Well theres no way to keep track of every penny. That's just a little ridiculous, Don't ya think.

4. All that budget stuff is just beyond me. I leave it to the financial types.

5. oof,I can't think of anything more boring!!

6. Well, if I run out of money they'll just have to wait until next week. Don't you worry they aren't gonna go broke waiting for the piddly little amt. I owe them.

7. I goes out faster than it comes in. What have I got to budget w/.

- I always have the credit card to fall back on if I overspend. So it's no biggie to not budget.

Person1- I don't want someone telling me how to spend my money.

Person2 - but when you do a budget YOU are telling you how to spend YOUR money.

Some of these are just hilarious! I havent really heard them, so I am finding this very entertaining.I have heard that one did not want to budget because one loved to spend. But I think that came out of my own mouth, back in the day.And as I recall it was not nearly as funny.My how times have changed.
