my tip of day dont forget to print out copy of 3-payment if you are postdating it

i do into my checking acct 2x a month .
this month is always a crazy one with extra BTS stuff fees and tuitions starting for the yongest 3 and extra curricular activity $ needed etc
so i do the bills have it all figured out- whew relief !!

due to unexpected car expenses i was paying my car payment on the 10th of this month after my next check went in rather than on the first few days of the month as i usually do ( its not due till 13th) .

imagine my shock when i used the ATM to get a few grocery items and saw i only had 250 in the acct- imagine my shock when i went home between patients to check it online to see my check for dental work went thru ( as it was meant too) and i only had 19.xx in my checking acct i search for the issue and find its becaise -because my car payment was taken out today instead of friday !!

of course since i had nothing printed out i couldnt prove i put the
10th and in case i did screw up i would have noticed i messed up the date and could have fixed it if i had printed it out !!

i ran to the bank - redeposited the money from the ATM and tranfferred some from a seperate checking i use for household stuff and online purchases into it and there shouldnt be any outstanding checks thank goodness , but i was freaking out as i have never bounced a check in my life and dont intend to start now !!!

was it a scheduled on line payment? I thought it was illegal to postdate a paper check?

It's illegal to post-date a check here. Whether you make a copy or not, the business still has the right to cash it upon receipt. But it may be different where you are. Glad you got it worked out.

noooo i didnt post date a check - that would be pretty dumb for a person who has never bounced a check in what 47 years of life to do lol !!! thats asking for a bounced check !!

it was online- thought i said that was obviously thinking it in my mind lol

( hence the printing out the copy of the receipt issue )

when you go online to pay you schedule your payment date at this site and they give you a calander option of what day you want it to come out - i choose the 10th -i know it showed the 10th on the final paper because iw as being very careful with it all- but never had this issue before so didnt want to waste paper and didnt print reciept -
I should have printed out a copy of the final page so if i had made an error i would have noticed it and or had proof to them they took it out early if it had caused anything to bounce.

Thanks for clarifying. Grrrrrrrr to the company and I'm glad you worked it out. I need to work out something of my own now :-( got a more-than-90-days dunning letter from the dentist for a lousy 38.40 but it was an online bill payment and my account shows the check cleared on 7/29.
