Does ING have real checking?
Does ING have real checking with a real check book?
I'm not happy!
I've been putting $100 a month since early spring into a cash account with my financial advisor. I also put $1,000 from my income tax into this account. the purpose of this account is to pay for my heating oil costs. Keeping the money completely separate from all my other money I would know that this money is there when I need it.
Early on I realized that fees were being taken out of this account. I told my FA to make the fees come from somewhere else that I needed that money to be there. Well again, the fees are showing up including my yearly $400 financial planning fee. I should have almost $2,000 in there. I just checked and there is only $1,488.
I am so mad!!!
So back to the ING checking. I'm thinking of moving the $1,488 and the monthly $100 into an ING account. I want this money to be totally separate and I want to be able to write a check.

I'm not sure on the checking. I would be interested to hear about that too. We do have the savings accounts. I LOVE it! They still have a great rate.

They do online checking so you would log in and fill out the information for the bill. Then they will send out the check for you. You don't even pay for the postage stamp.

And I just want to add that I have learned the hard lesson of bad things happen when you don't pay attention to your money!
This is so what I deserve for just piling up my statements rather than actually looking at them every month.
Lesson learned!Judy

They offer online checking, however they do not offer an actual checkbook...it is all done online.

i don't have enought money for a finacial advisor, but that sounds like a lot of money for that account. I guess you must have other accouts that this FA watches over also.
You said it, pay attention you your statements for sure.Married 22 years to Mark

They don't have paper checks. You can set up a check to be sent to someone or if you have an account # you can set up a payment to go directly to the account. ING is our main bank and where i pay all my bills. I do have it linked to my credit union account which I have for those random things i need a check for like a gift and what not.

Russ how did I know that SOMEONE was going to say that?? LOL!
Well I'm not ready to dump her yet but I will make it very clear that I'm not happy.
And $400 is for services for the year plus there are fees associated with buying/selling shares etc. The fees are not my issue, I'm aware of them, I agree to them etc. My issue is that I specifically told her not to take any fees out of this account, to make them come from someplace else (mutual funds). Obviously she does not remember that conversation.
This is just a cash account, similar to a checking account. I have mutual funds, ROTH IRA and my son's 529 plan through my advisor. This is the first time in three years that "something" happened.
So I will give her a second chance but you better believe I'm going to be paying attention.Judy

My ds has his retirement fund with them and needs a statement from them as to how much is in the account and they are making him wait 4 days; he needs it today for mortgage approval. I would be leary of doing business with someone that doesn't listen to what you say especially when it comes to YOUR money.

Just closing the loop on this one.
I had a phone conversation with my FA yesterday. I have closed the cash account that I had with her, and stopped my deposits going forward. I transfered all of that money into an ING account.
I feel better!Judy
