Default Stupid mess up on my part....

Luckily it worked out in the end.

I have 2 Chase credit cards. One was paid off in full a few months ago, the other had a $1300 balance that I set up for payment through my online banking account. APPARENTLY I paid the WRONG credit card, giving myself a $1300 credit on one credit card and the other unpaid.

I called Chase as soon as I saw the mistake and luckily since they are credit cards with the same company they were able to fix the mistake.

Quick scare! But still happy that I am SO much closer to being debt free. Hopefully my only debt will be the mortgage after next month. (FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!)

I did something similar earlier this year. I sent my mortgage payment to my credit card by mistake. Mine wasn't as easy to correct. Thankfully I had money in my EF to cover my mortgage until my credit card company sent me a check for the credit. I was in a total panic for a few days.

    Won't make that mistake again!

Congrats on paying off your debt!

I've got 2 cards through Cap One right now and I wonder if I might end up doing the same thing...lol. I've got account "nicknames" with the last 4 digits of the card in the payee's section of my online banking, to remind myself to look at the bill before sending the money through lol.

Congrats on being damn near debt free

I'm glad it worked out. I paid my light bill twice and I had to come up with the $$ to pay the phone bill. Light company wouldn't refund the extra payment.

Thanks everyone. It really is a great feeling to be so close to pay off. I may have to go a bit into November (I'm looking at what I can part with for $$ over the next few weeks) and then I will have to retrain the brain so I don't use any CC's for Xmas. That is the hardest part.

    I CAN DO IT! LOL

Sorry that happened but don't be so sure it was your mistake.
Couple years ago I went round and round w/ Amer. X over the exact same thing. I recouped the interest and fees after bugging them.

Nothing like a good scare to help you keep an even tighter watch on your money! Glad you were able to get it corrected and so close to paying off your debt

I actually wondered a bit if it was my mistake and I just figured it was since I have 2 accounts with them. I am just so relieved that it was fixed and since they are BOTH paid in full now there will be no more issues YAY!
