Amusing 401k numbers
I'm in the middle of a rollover from my old 401k to a new IRA. It's a matter of around $48k so obviously, I'm eager to make sure this happens smoothly.
I've been waiting with growing impatience on my plan administrators to get their arses in gear on this.
Today, I logged in and saw this:
Balance: $0.01Account Summary
Outstanding Loans: $0.00
Alarming and then rather amusing - I guess they're finally getting their acts in gear...If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
Greebo(Nerd Spender): Loving and extremely patiently tolerated husband of ceashels.

Oops - sorry - 47k - 47024.94 to be precise - but anyway - that one penny... will be interesting to see what they do with it.
According to my detail screen, I now own a positive fractional number of shares in some funds and a NEGATIVE number of fractional shares in some others.
Goofballs...If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Only Greebo, financial whiz that he is, could figure out how to own negative shares. I'm truly impressed!

As of today, balances are $0 and 0.0000 across the board. Guess they figured out my little negative fractional trick...
Wish I knew how I did it.

Schwab FINALLY got the check. The old 401k administrator sent me notice on the 20th that the check was mailed on the 19th. Super speedy notification there.
Schwab, meanwhile, sent me notice on the 21st that the check was received and deposited.
I like Schwab.
