Default ?'s about Dave Ramsey software

I used to use the old microsoft $ 2007 and liked it fine. However I do not like the newer version at all so I quit doing any of it on the computer. I didnt like Quicken. I did a trial of Acemoney and liked it but can't link it to my bank.

I'm curious about the DR software. I am guessing that it might work better with the sinking funds, categories etc. Will it work with the bank? Is it useful even if you aren't using it for debt reduction but just basic budgeting and seeing where the $ goes.

So what do you think of the software?

Dave's software is very rudimentary and designed only to teach the basics.

Try YNAB - I haven't used but hear good things about it.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

I don't have the dave ramsey software, every review I have read of it does not recommend it. I have been sticking with paper and a pen - I find it helps eliminate the mistake of downloading the bank's information and possibly missing something they didn't correctly account for.

Thanks for the suggestions and input. Our bank doesn't support mint either.

I agree.Dave's software is rudimentary. It is specifically designed for you to input all your debt and payments and how much you get paid, your bills etc and then show you where the money should go to pay things down. It doesn't really keep track of bank statements etc. We got it on sale and it is good to put things in for an overview but it really does replicate other debt reduction software and spreadsheets.

I am now using mint.com and I love it. I had to log onto my online quicken last night (free version through my credit union) and was reassured that I made the right choice - it is painfully slow!!

Also, mint.com lets you input cash transactions so now my online budget finally matches the totals on my envelopes!
    BS1: $1000/$1000
    BS2:
    CC: $0/ $15884
    Other Debt: $0/2487
    Car Loan: $0/11800
    SLs: $20368/54031
    Total Consumer Debt= $20,368/81825

    Timeline:
