Has your medical insurance gone up?
We just got news at work that our medical insurance will go up 42% starting March 1st. We where told that the increase is due to the new health care bill. Possibly the claims that we have. They can't tell us for sure about the claims because we are to small of a company. The insurance company only has to tell large customers what there claims are.
Just wanted to see if other peoples medical cost have gone up. If they have what was the reason.
This is just way out of control. I personally will loss another $300 a month out of my pocket due to this increase.

Yep, our deductibles for PCP, specialists, and ER went up. They also added a $100 deductible for certain tests. Same thing with prescriptions. This is nothing new. It has been going up every couple of years.

My company dropped health coverage two years ago (yep, that's legal here). My contribution at the time was $100 a WEEK for myself alone (yes, you read that right, it slowly increased over the years from totally company provided until it was at that $400/month level right before they dropped it as a benefit). I'm now covered (thankfully) under my husband's policy. However, we have an HSA (first $5000 in medical costs are out of pocket), then it's 80%. Of all the financial boogies, health insurance scares me the worst. Not sure what the answer is to it, but wish things could be different in that area. For now, I'm thankful to have the coverage I have, and I pray for everyone that is uninsured in this country, including my recent college-graduate daughter, still looking for a job with benefits. . .
Totally debt free since January 2011.

The one at Hubby's work was going to go up 40% or so. Resaons given Insurance companies costs went up in genreal and so did the age of the employees so the price of the insurance went up. That was why the big hike.
The company switched insurance companies. Now we have better coverage with just a bit more in price. not the 40% increase.

It was an awesome switch. We are paying so much less for doctor visits and dentist and it now has vision. Oh just everything. It was the first time we didn't have to pay anything after a visit. It was nice to know you only pay a co pay and that is it. Had my first you don't have to pay anything mammogram instead of paying $100+ for one. Vaccinations for the children are covered. Our check ups and the blood work that goes with them covered. Getting out for the doctors office for only $25 is amazingly wonderful!
You get my excitement.
So much better for our budget.

Yes, about $30 a month. The year before we had to change insurance companies because the jump was unbelievable. This insurance is ok but I have to be super careful that I use their "prefered" doctors, labs etc., not just "participating" . Found that out the hard way.

No, but the amount covered has gone down quite a bit, so it amounts to the same thing!

Yep- we are self employed so we pay for our own health insurance. We had been paying about $700 a month for a HEALTHY family of 5- now we are just under $1000. It REALLY hurts...
