The closest real estate attorney is over 2hrs away. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Do you think it would be unreasonable to ask if he would do the meeting over the phone?

When I call the court house for the paper work do I just ask for a copy of the title/deed. Do I need to ask for anything else?
You have to ask the land office.... You have to find out who manages the land records and get the copy from them and attach it to your court paperwork. The court clerk won't be able to do that. unless your land records office is in the courthouse, is that what you mean?

As for for anything else, I really don't know what other papers would be prudent in your situation, ask the lawyer what other paperwork you would need (another good question to ask).

I don't think it's unreasonable to do the meeting by phone if the lawyer will agree.

What court paper work should I be looking for? As to land records do you mean the deed, survey and plat?

The court house is divided into 2 areas: taxes and records. We do pretty much everything there.

Ansley you should be able to get copies from the Register of Deeds office in your courthouse. After getting those you need to go into your Trustees office and check to see if the taxes have been paid on the land. I would check with your Tax Assessors office to and see what the land is assessed for. All those offices should be in your courthouse. Then you absolutely have to see a lawyer if you want to get anything done. Ask about his fees too because if the land isn't worth what your having to pay him to get something done then you may have to come up with another option.
