Lightbulb The connection between your credit score and your auto insurance premium

~I thought this article was interesting. I didn't know they looked at your credit score for insurance reasons but it does make sense. It sure stinks if you have no credit.

There are insurance agencies that don't go by your credit score. There is a local company that advertises on TV all the time.

We have State Farm insurance with local agents. We have vehicles 10+ yrs old so only have liability ins. and it's about $500/yr for both vehicles. Plus we have renters ins which is $110/yr.

I checked my credit score for the first time a few years ago and I was a bit surprised that it was mid-600s. I've been debt free since about 1990, I do have 2 credit cards that I use lightly or moderately and pay off every month. (So I think the get a cc and use it and pay it each month to raise your credit limit might be bs). My SO does the same but he has never checked his credit score - or cared to.

The next time I got there to pay my bill I will ask if my credit score has an impact on what I pay.
