Default places to check for 'forgotten' money

These are websites Suze Orman talked about on her show this past week as legit sites to see if you have any unclaimed money you've forgotten about. Treasurydirect dot gov, unclaimed dot org, missingmoney dot com. I didn't find anything for me, but maybe someone else will have some luck!

I have used at least one of these from a savings account and another a small credit card overpayment when the account was closed. My grandmother had passed away and there was a missing life insurance policy under a thousand but still money- not much divided by 7.

Many state treasurer's office have their own websites. My mother-in-law found money owed to her deceased father. I was recently searching and found money owed to my brother-in-law. Of course, he can't collect it until he gets back home from wherever the government has sent him.

I called the number and they are closed until Mon. but are there on Saturdays, but closed now. I'm really curious if this is real and I have no clue what it would be. My last name is not very common either.

Hey, but if Suze says it's legit....who am I to question.

While I would follow Suze's lead, I think it doesn't hurt to be prudent too.

    Much thanks!
