Just closed out our account with Capital One. They are awful. Guess that means ING is out too.

Just because I have no experience with Capitol One may I ask what was so bad about them?

    In my experience:

    * we had fraudelant charges several times (charges that would have been very out of character and I believe they should have questioned)
    * Customer service is awful and I was never able to speak to anyone there who spoke english (very frustrating when trying to resolve the issue from above)

Nuts- I'm another former ING user who was very happy with their services...but I've no interest in doing business with Capital One. not based on personal experience, never dealt with, but based on the horror stories of others. I've no interest in keeping my savings with such a dishonest, disreputable company. Will have to look into a credit union, me thinks (I also DESPISE TD bank, but they're the only and for 15 or so miles around, so we're kinda stuck, but I'm not putting more $ with them, either, they're SHARKS).

    Thanks for the heads up!

Just try disputing a charge with them even when you have given them all the paperwork. Six months later they will still be asking you for all the paperwork again while your account hangs in the balance probably racking up interest charges for them! I've never experienced anything like them before!

I will most certainly be getting rid of ING now that those blood suckers took them over. You could try www.emigrantdirect.com I've had them just as long as I've had ING and am very happy with them. Even though their % stinks there are no banks with great rates these days.

I am going to keep my eyes and ears open and be ready to close my account at a moment's notice. I will just put the money in my credit union savings account. I REALLY don't want to do business with Capitol One.

They rank middle shelve on blood sucking. Count fraudulent charges here also.

Wow, glad I saw this post. I had JUST been about to open an ING account. I want no business dealings with ANY megabanks, especially those with the poor reputations I hear about on here. Thank you for posting this information.

I swear, I'm going to call Capital One's marketing department today to see if I can get a spot on a commercial. I must be the only person on the planet who likes them.

I've had a Cap One card for 14 years. I have had to dispute charges with two merchants and 3 times reported cards missing or stolen. I have ALWAYS had a pleasant experience with customer service and things were resolved within 10 days for the disputes and 3 days for replacement cards to be issued. I get a live person within 5 minutes of calling and am never stuck on hold or transferred around. I once missed an online payment by a day and they waived the late fee for me. The only unexpected terms change I ever got was when one card went from a 12% fixed rate to a variable APR back in 2008-2009 when all the legislation went through. They don't have a hard "upsell" for credit protection when I call. Their website is easy to use and isn't constantly "unavailable for maintanance." They have good rewards and they don't constantly change the terms on those, either.

But everywhere I turn, people hate them. They always get poor marks for customer service. So I must be extra special or the only person on the planet that they treat well.
