Homeschooling in Colorado is very easy. I have lived in Colorado Springs for two years and love it. If you have any questions about the area or homeschooling here feel free to PM me. I'd be happy to help.

~Thanks for the offer of help, HRA, and Welcome to FV!
My DH was able to handle the writing all on his own after reviewing other resumes and using a template. It took a few days though. He hated school so much and had never written one before but he didn't want to let down his current supervisor and his future supervisor. He worked really hard on it.
His current supervisor was going to punch it up for him but he was so pleased with what DH did that he left it as is.
I thought it was great too. It's surprisingly hard to write something incredibly simple, isn't it?
So far we haven't heard anything else or gotten the job offer in writing. We're expecting that in a few weeks.
I'm getting excited about living in CO but everything here is making me emotional. Today I went out for a foraging romp with my 61 year old dad. I just can't help thinking that everything I do now is the last this or that. Right now it's pretty easy to take a deep breath and keep from crying but as the time to leave gets nearer it's going to be tough.
We plan to come back for visits in the summer and for Thanksgiving. But two weeks a year is pretty lean for visiting your "home".
I'm taking a lot of comfort in the fact that, if we homeschool and I don't work, I can pile the kids in the car anytime really and come "home".
I went through the house last week and listed all the big items I wanted to take, all the big items we would sell at a yard sale and all the large items that would get trashed. I felt a lot of relief after making those decisions. The more decisions I can make now, far in advance of the move, the better I'll feel when the time comes.~

    Aww Constance.
Home, it means alot and I understand those feelings "last time for this and that" as I went through it when kids left home at about the same time and again when everything changed in a day with the flood. Emotion City.
I'm glad that you have this time to sort through all your things and get your mind wrapped around "change" & your new adventure to come. We're taking the winter to get ready for our new adventure too. Big hugs and my best to you and your family.

~A couple of really good things to report. I neglected to report here that DH got an out of the blue, 3% raise in October. Raises are always given out for the beginning of the year. The entire plant skipped out on raises for 2011 so that was a very nice surprise.
This week DH got his year end review with another 3% raise plus a year end bonus.
The CO plant said they would keep his pay rate the same from here to there, whatever it is, at the time of transfer since it's within the same company.
We also found out that the company is known to provide the service of their own mover which includes all the packing plus a check for relocating. They also have been known to buy houses making it easier to move.
    Nothing definite but nice possibilities!
So now that I know what our income will be for 2012, I've made a rough plan for our budget. We should be able to sock away another $10K while we're still in NJ.
I'm still thinking in crisis mode. I don't think any amount of savings would really make me feel secure right now. I don't worry about everything on a daily basis or anything. But is is hard trying to process everything that is and is going to be happening to our family next year.
I'm so thankful that I have this time to process before we actually move. I've never been a spontaneous, switch gears fast kind of person.
We're trying to focus on the excitement of finding a new place to live, exploring all the amazing parks, and enjoying the lower cost of living. It should help us get to our goal of being mortgage free much faster. ~

A mom I know moved to CO because of her husband's job. They are loving it. They are always posting pictures of them hiking here or going there.

~Well, the written offer and dates are here. The time has come to get my timeline of things to do rewritten within the window we have. 10 weeks to go.
DH starts his new job across the country on May 1. But before that he will have spent 2-3 weeks out there already setting up then back here to close things here. The company will house him there alone and give our family another month to move if we want to do it that way. They also provide the movers free. They also pay for all our expenses as we travel out.
We have to use a company affiliated realtor as part of our relocation package deal. I need to look that up ASAP and get an appointment.
We have a slew of cosmetic repairs to do the week of March 5-9. DH took off of work to get the house ready. My mom will watch the kids during the days so we can powerhouse it together. I was hoping to get the house on the market immediately after that.
So I have one month to pack up, dispose, sell and donate to make the house showable. The next month I'll be mostly on my own as DH will be here and there and here and there and who knows at this moment. His job is to get us a rental out there, hopefully a small house with a yard.
Right now I just want to slow down time a little bit and enjoy the last bit of time we have left here. I want to make a short list of places to visit one last time. I'll take some pictures for a Jersey book. Our toddler won't remember NJ at all so I want her to have visual aid for the stories and memories.~

I lived in CO for 15 years if you need any info on areas to live and such let me know. We moved to OH 5 years ago. Moving cross country is one of the most stressful things a person/family can do, so try to build in some relaxing. Having a plan will help for sure.

    ~Thanks folks.
I hear "8 WEEKS LEFT!!!" screaming in my head but I'm currently ignoring that as best I can.
I am planning in some relaxation in the upcoming months. This week I'm sewing and getting ready for my last church retreat in 2.5 weeks. Before the retreat DH and I will be spending a week doing house fix-ups. After that things are going of get a little crazy but I took off from everything again in April for Passover week. That's going to be my week to see the sights one last time and visit with relatives.
Hopefully we can get the homeschooling wrapped up with ds. He technically has 10 weeks left but if we double up some stuff I think we can finish before the move. The reason for that is his materials are leased. I do not want to take the chance of them getting lost in the move. :/ ~
