    Default OMG Bank of America!!!

I just got 4 emails telling me that they approved my checking and savings account and they will mail my debit cards and they gave me my online code, but said my temporary password will be mailed in 7 to 10 days.

I've never stepped foot in a bank of hell in my life!! What does this mean??? Does that mean someone has my ssn? Unless this is some insane thing Bank of Hell is doing. Makes no sense!

Our mortgage is through them but my name is not on the loan and they shouldn't have my SSN.

I tried to call but they are closed. I would rather keep my money in my mattress before I would ever bank with them!

Now I'm freakin a little and have to wait until morning to figure out who on this planet opened an account there in my name!!

    Let us know what happens!

    It might be a spammer?

Is it from an e-mail address that appears real?

A spammer may be trying to get you to log into a website or enter your personal information. But it does not appear that way from what you wrote, unless the e-mail included more.

It sounds pretty legit to me, though.

Hope you get it all worked out A.S.A.P. I would call first thing in the morning.

yes, it's exactly how Bank of Hell sends e-mails. I know because they send me one every month saying something like..thank you, your mortgage payment has been posted.

The first one let me know they was "processing" my new accounts and another to tell me I have a savings and checking account there now, and the rest...just about mailing me my debit card and password.

WTH! I would think if someone had my SSN they would go for a credit card, not a checking and savings!

I am quite curious how this works out for you since we get these kinds of emails a lot of the time ACROSS HERE. They go direct to my junk mail since they aren't recognized by my email account. These emails seem extremely legit.

(I wouldn't even know where to find some of the banks in Holland and I know that I don't have an account with any American bank. But as I said they look real but in my case I know that they are not.)

One thing I know is that my own bank NEVER EVER sends these kinds of mails to me and secondly my own bank warns me each time I log on about these kinds of spams.

I have even been sent mails by myself (spam), by names of people whom I know (also turned out to be spam). Just be very very careful of the information that you tell them when you call.

    Good luck!

Banks never give you personal info in an email.. If you don't have an BOA account disregard is and slap those emails in your spam folder.. And PLEASE don't click on any links.

I went over the 4th e-mail in more detail. Does seem to look like spam.

Bank of Hell wouldn't go into my spam folder because our mortgage is through them.

I'll share later what it said in detail. I'm tired. Thanks!

I sent an email like that directly to BoA and they said it was spam and supposedly was able to shut those particular people down. Those spammers can make things look so real. I hope all works out!

It's called 'fishing'...scammers send you an official looking email, well-copied after legit ones from the REAL company, and work to get your personal info so they can steal from you. NEVER EVER send ANY personal info in an email...not name, address, ssn, bank acct. #s......when in doubt, just call the company directly. Glad you avoided being scammed! My favorites are the ones I get from so-an-so in Africa, contacting me about my 'compensation' for the victims of African scammers....never been scammed that way, and it's just another scam in itself! They want your bank act. info so they can 'send' the $ (really, send themselves $- from your acct). It always makes me very sad people fall for this.

I've even had emails from Wells Fargo asking for my account info and telling me that I had to contact them.

As I said in my first reply, I don't have or have ever had an account in an American bank, so I know it is spam.

Personally I would delete it and definitely not reply by email.

I'd call up BoA and inform them of this email - check it with them directly first to see if its legit then possibly forward it to their 'security team' so they can investigate.

In this electronic everything day and age - I consistently tell banks that if they want to contact me to do it via snail mail and know I will be calling or taking the letter to a branch to have it verified. I rarely get contacted. I refuse all phone calls too and have caught a few fraudulent people by asking them to read the note on my account to me. They can never get it right

It could also be a typo in the email address. Maybe it was meant to go to palooka224 @ youremailaddress.com and instead was sent to pallooka224 @ youremailaddress.com.
