Smile It pays to call AT&T and Ask

I was thinking about dropping my land line and called them. Of course they don't want you to do that because they will lose money! Without my land line my net service would be 45.00 a month. I pay 35 now.

So the nice lady locked me in for a year with my land line still, an extra feature, and the same net service for a total of 57.00 a month. I was paying 87.00 a month for both.

She said call back next year and there will probably be some other new deal.

I wasn't all that thrilled about cutting my land line but wanted to cut back somehow in this bill. So this works for me!!

We do this with our cable company pretty religiously.....we are paying $37 a month right now for a package that should cost $60+.....everytime it ends, we call and ask what they can do for us, as we like their service and want to remain customers, but find the 'usual' bill too high for our budget. The last 1-2 years we've been able to keep it reduced every time, though it did creep up a few $s this last time. It's worth the 5-10 minutes it takes to make a courteous request about it!

I do this with Qwest (I think they just got bought, it's Century Link now). I have the most basic home phone (~$30/mo) plus dsl internet. I've been getting the dsl for $14.99/mo. When it goes back up to the $45/mo I call and ask how I can get a better price.

So I get phone and dsl for $50/mo.

I just cut back on my land line too. I don't have a computer at home so no bundling opportunities for me. However, I dropped down from basic service to I forget what they call it but I have free 911 and incoming calls and pay 3 1/2cents a minute for outbound calling with a monthly rate of $7.45! wohoo! There is an initial $30 change over fee but I'm going to go from $29.40 a month down to about $7.45 plus tax.
