Great news! My friend called last night and got a $1000 donation and I got a nice card. She had shared the situation with an online group for handicapped people she has belonged to for years. They sent the card and check. I was so touched! God bless them for helping her!

this might me a tad off due to interest numbers.

as of Fri payment ~ 2341.61
    minus check ~ $1341.61

    Woo hoo!!!!!!!

The total above is a bit off as the interest got added (about $28). I sold a few items my friend wanted to get rid of on ebay. That will add another $213.54 go what I can pay this week ($50 I think unless there is more OT on the check)

Things seem to be gaining momentum!!!

    DONE DONE DONE!!!!!!

Dh got a nice bonus. We got 2 donations. it is paid in full. Yeah!

NOW I need to buckle down for us. It looks like a possible strike for dh. He earns 80% of our income. We just took a big hit with a few expenses. Yes, I know I should have put the debt on the back burner and put it in our EF but she really needed the peace of mind. WE are capable of making $ she is not. Now yo get to serious planning.

Nodmicks...Not many people would put the needs of another before the needs of their own. You are an example to be admired. You used your frugal knowledge and your skills to help out someone you cared for deeply. We all should be so compassionate. In a world where most of the thought is "all about me"...you are a breath of fresh air! Congrats on getting the bill paid off! Now on to the next goal!

    You're a good friend

I am super impressed with the time frame you got this done in.
    Really remarkable.

Many counties have what's called "Community Action Agencies." In most cases, you take your decision from social services to the CAA and apply for their programs. The one in my county helps with emergency food, non-emergency food (monthly), rent, financial counseling, mortgages, utility bills (they get money from THAW), health advocacy, taxes, you name it.

A good chunk was donated (1300). That really helped. The ebay sales also helped a lot. Last of all Dh is a doll for letting me use his bonus to finish it. You know though it seems once momentum got going it went.

Now I'm ready to start putting the $100 a week plus any over-time or bonus into our EF.

That is good to know if my friend needs help again. As of right now she is doing fine and feels happy
