    Default i finally dropped.....

    Bank of America!!!
I kept dealing with them after the many warnings given on the different forums. I didn't have any problems with them. But when I got married and changed my name a couple of months ago, they dropped my pitiful BoA credit card. It had a limit of $300. Just enough so that I could use for a hotel, rent a car, or plane ticket. When I changed my name, they sent me a letter saying they apologized that they couldn't RE-open my account. Interesting.....as I had just used the card the day before. So....I was upset and posted it here on FV. I just decided that I didn't need their card and it was a favor. Now, there is some crazy fee on my account and no one can explain it. After 15 days, it cleared but it made me have a -14 balance. They eventually claimed there was a hold on my account. OH....did I mention that I had just deposited $60 about 1 hour before this "hold"??
In the meantime, I stopped my direct deposit. The personnel manager said that at least 9 people have come in to stop their direct deposit to BoA.
So.......everything is cleared and BoA sent me apologizing. But it is too late!! Adios!!! I have closed it!!!
Then I read where BoA is going to charge for debit transactions. Go right ahead but without me.
I am with ING direct. I am much happier with them. Also, I have a credit union account!!

Ugh - yeah nothing good comes from BoA. My boyfriend just opened an account (switching from a credit union!! ) I dread the first problem.

I use a local credit union for my EF and Ally for everything else (travel a lot - reimbursed ATM fees are great!)

Good Riddance. I said the same thing as you and told them to get lost.. they bought my mortgage and I am working on my battle plan to get rid of them.

Story of my life. In 2007 we had 78000 worth of debt, and we climbed out under it, on top of paying for a surgery with cash, bought a house, had a foundation shift and $11000 in repairs later we are good to go.. then I hear the words "I'm pregnant!"

They really are THE worst. My mom has her mortgage with them and all I ever hear is that the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing - I still need to talk her into trying to get that mortgage moved!!! Thanks for the reminder.

And good work! Dropping them like a hot potato!!! Couldn't be a better way to handle their nonsense.
