Thread: I just need accountability...

I was called for an interview! It's for the part-time, student position in a computer lab on campus. They work around your class schedule, so that would sure be wonderful! I interview Monday afternoon...wish me luck!
I have no clue how many others he's interviewing...eek!
Today Dh is being fed lunch at work...yes, again!!
Did I mention I love his company? hehe I'll have a frugal lunch here at home. We're going to our friend's home this evening. My dad gave me a bunch of beef (he ordered a HUGE thing of it before my mom died and there's no way he can get through all of it before the 'use-by' date). Well, I don't really eat much in the way of meat, but Dh and our friend's do (it's the couple we traveled with)! So, she's doing all the cooking and providing the rest of the food for the meal since 'I' provided the beef (it's really high-quality/price stuff). So, not only do I not have to cook/clean tonight...our dinner is essentially free AND we get to hang out with our friends!
Oh, M4LB...forgot to mention...I try to do treats for myself.
A couple years back I got an espresso machine. I make myself a latte at home (costs less than 75 cents each) about 3 times/week. It's my 'frugal-luxury'.
It doesn't have the fun of sitting in a lovely coffee shop with friends, but it's certainly a close second!
We're actually supposed to go out to eat Monday evening. Dh isn't super wild about this... There's (finally!) an Olive Garden opening in town!! First one in Alaska! It opens Monday. My dear friend wants to have her birthday dinner there! On opening day! She knows it'll be crazy there...and a loooooooong wait. I reeeeeeeeeeally wanna go there and celebrate her special day, but I'm not looking forward to the time wasted waiting (probably in a line outside - keep in mind it's like -10* or colder) when my time is tight, already. And Dh is *not* a patient person. So, this should be interesting. But, it's 'eating out', nonetheless! And, at a restaurant we both LOVE! Hope it all works out...will post how it goes.

I interviewed today...I think it went good? I find out the end of the week if I get it or not. It sounds like it wouldn't end up being very many hours, so if I end up needing to look for something else on campus I won't be too disappointed. But, it looks like it would be a nice work environment and for a good supervisor. So, either way.

The birthday dinner was really fun!
We ended up going to another restaurant because the new Olive Garden was MOBBED!! Over a 2 hour wait for a table!! Yeah, okay...so, that's what's exciting up here. hahaha
I tutored my new math student this afternoon. It went GREAT!
I SOOOOOOOOO enjoy it! I love seeing that lightbulb just flip on! Totally exciting!!
On another bright note, it's warmed up a LOT! It was 17* today!!
(Hey, that's almost 40* warmer than it was not long ago...we'll take it!)

I GOT THE JOB!!
Yay! It'll only be like 15-ish hours/week, but that works great with my school load...and since I'm tutoring on the side, too.
Pretty excited!! Submitted all my paperwork today...just have to wait on HR to process it all. Woot!
Dh and I celebrated with Chinese take out!
We figured it was definitely something to splurge on! He's excited for me, too. And the job is in the same building on campus that all my classes are in! How convenient is that?!

I am a teacher of spec ed and learning support students and there is nothing quite like it in the world when you can actually see the light bulb go off as they finally get something they have struggled with, makes all your persistance and patience worth while.

Oh my goodness!! I know this isn't exactly on the frugal or discipline note of this thread, but I'm so excited I just have to share!!
The lady I'm tutoring in math, who was repeatedly failing her tests, just contacted me. SHE GOT AN 83% ON HER LAST TEST!!
I am absolutely elated!!! =D Just thrilled to no end!! SOOOOO proud of all her hard work!!! WOOOOOT!!
This is what teachers must feel like when they watch their students SUCCEED! What a joy!!!!

Hey, don't knock it. Her good grade allows you to see that the hard work you put into the JOB paid off and made it all worth your time and your skills as a tutor.

Got another 2.5 hours of tutoring in today.
And, Dh sold one of the sets of tires we've had on craigslist for a few weeks now. Making progress!
I had leftover soup (from freezer) for a late lunch and didn't buy anything on campus. Dh is hanging at his friend's house today...they're all chipping in for pizza. Fairly cheap for many hours of fun with friends!
I spent $3 on some Rit dye...want to dye the back seat cover from my little car. It looks awful, but the fabric is in good repair. Should make it look good as new for a teeny price.
Just doing homework and laundry tonight...there's PLENTY of it! I start my part time job at the college on Monday! Yay!

Today was a no drive, no spend day.

Had the last of the eggs for breakfast. Need to get more tomorrow...fortunately, there's a big sale this week!
Made spaghetti for dinner...and enough extra for Dh to take to work for 2 lunches.
We're still slowly, but surely, working through our stockpile. I re-organized the main cupboard that holds our canned goods and pasta. It looks much nicer, now! And, I added to it from the pantry/stockpile.
I start my computer job tomorrow!
I'm looking forward to it! Got my offer letter and it was .50/hr more than I was expecting...so, $10.50/hr. It's not much, but every bit helps!
I tutored quite a bit this last week...will apply all of that to the credit card that has my tuition on it. And, I've filled out the direct deposit paperwork, so my computer work paychecks will be direct deposited.
Spent much of the day doing homework...don't feel like I got much done, though.
Hoping to get familiar with my job tomorrow and then break out a textbook (allowed/encouraged at the job, as long as there isn't a student wanting help).

Not on the subject of accountability, but rather tutoring and light bulbs.
You might appreciate the movie Stand and Deliver.
It was based on a true story.

Whew! That week flew by! My second day of work went really good, too! It was WAY busy, though! I only got like 5 pages from a textbook read!
Classes are good...I have loads of homework to take care of, though.
Dh and I are having our Valentine's day early (tomorrow), as I have school and he has work on the actual date. And, we're into tax season, so his hours go up, up, up!
We both have memberships to our planetarium, so we can go to the shows for free. They're having a special one tomorrow...LIVE classical music to star-scapes on the planetarium dome! Can't wait!
And we're going out to dinner at a local restaurant - YUMMY food! Dh got a gift card to there ($50) from work for winning a contest a few months back. So, it will be a very special Valentine's day...for the cost of the GAS!
Woot! Gotta love that!
Today is a no drive, no spend day for me. Dh has to drive to work, but it's a no spend day for him. He's going to the dentist, but that's all covered by his insurance (thankfully!).
Yesterday he got an eye exam and ordered glasses...not sure what the total came to on that (insurance covered most of it). I'm just going to focus on being thankful he *has* coverage for that! Need to see what the insurance company is covering. I know it'll be *at least* $35 OOP...
Overall, a good week.
I got a soda at school twice (less than $5)...was in need of a caffeine hit!
The last 2 nights I've actually slept well! I haven't been sleeping well since my mom died (in October) and this last month I started having bad nightmares. But, 2 nights in a row now have been good! Maybe I'll be able to function like a rested person soon!

Well, I blinked and the weekend is over...back to Monday!
Our Saturday date was really fun! We spent $6 for the tip at the restaurant (used GC that Dh had). The music and show at the planetarium was great!
After that we went to Starbucks and shared a frappachino (used another GC that I had).
Really fun time! After all that, we swung by the grocery store and got our groceries for the week ($43). Really could use a few other things, but that will get us by for now.
Sunday was a no drive, no spend day!
I love when we get those! I made a big thing of pasta and veggies for dinner. There's enough for Dh to take for lunch tomorrow.
I'm headed out the door here shortly. Gotta go to work... Hope everyone has a great day!
