Do you stockpile funds?

What a great question, and the Zombie reference was priceless.
My DH and I stockpile cash sporadically in the house along with a change jar. Plus we both have savings accounts set up for our EF and general Savings.

We did have several savings accounts but switched a few over when dh turned 55 to interest checking. Actually we earn more in the checking than we did with the savings acct.
We do have a christmas account and savings account through dh's work. We never think about it until we receive a christmas check and then we go and look what is in the savings. We each have our own checking and then our main checking to pay all bills and household exspenses. We also have cash at our home for those little emergencies that may come up and the bank is closed. We have done this with the cash for several years.
Yes I could use my ATM card, but its for if I am sick and need something I can give the cash to one of our children or friend so that they can go get medicine or whatever it is we need. A few times we have given our children gas money because they were low on cash.
We also keep at least $20 in the cars in case of emergencies and change in the ash tray. Each of our kids do this also now. Since we are raising our grandson now, we set up a savings account for him. He is only five and learning that he has to take a percentage and put in savings and the rest he can spend on something he wants. Right now he thinks its cool to go to the bank and desposit his money. lol
