Default I'm Mystic & I have stupid DEBT

Whew the admitting is over. The past 2yrs hubby's income has gone up but so has our debt. I guess we both are to blame but feel I deserve most of it. I stay home so my job is managing our money for the best value.

Due to health and depression issues I fell completely off the frugal wagon. On top of that my inlaws moved in with us in 2009 so more was put on my shoulders. Excuses??? Nope just facts that I let take control of me. Finally the h & d are improving which helps me feel normal and in control once again.

Our debts include a personal loan $3940 and cc debt of $6385. The cc scares me but mostly just makes me mad. The intention was to pay off as we it used but of course that was easier said than done.

The plan is to pay off the 2 small cc's first bc each is under 1k. Then tackle the one that is over 4k. Last will be the personal loan. On paper we will be out of debt by Mar 2013. Any extra money will be added to the snowball. Good news is I'm already ahead of schedule We have a $500 sb each month and with hubby's ot on today's check I can pay the first cc off this month instead of March.

It feels wonderful be in charge of my life once again instead of letting circumstances control it.

I had about that much "stupid" debt, too, when I got mad and got serious about paying it off. The being angry and staying that way was a really powerful motivator for me. I wanted Chase out of my life so bad there wasn't much I wouldn't give up to make that happen. Glad you're feeling better. I wish you well on your journey to your goal. Victory is very, very sweet.

Mystic- it can be extra challening to be frugal with health problems,

I have severe crohns disease with other extra intestinal ymptoms like arthralgia , and also anxiety and panic. When my symptoms get bad, thhte last thing i want to think about is menu planning, sticking to a budget, or couponing. The coupon combining with sales, stockpiles, menus, and staying under budget goes from being fun, to being a pain in the butt. Just mentally exhausting.
Add to that...the being lethargic so things like making juice from concentrate 0.50 for 2 litres changes to drinking boxes i put low so the kids can help themselves so i don,t have to get up..prepared meals over more prep intensive meals. When i stand up preparing supper all i can think it, omg omg omg I need to sit down ASAP. I so get it.

The good news: a good income, and very low debt (even if it is stupid debt) thank goodness youre turning it around now instead od trying to pay off 75,000 in credit cards..

Hello Mystic! Look on a bright note-you're taking control of it and putting the kebsh on it getting worse, now that you've got a plan in place and have met the problem head on, you'll only move forward in the long run. getting rid of debt isn't easy, but you're right, you've done one the the hardest parts already- admitting to the issues causing it and making a plan to change it!

Lots of really nice supportive people on here to cheer you on and give advice when you ask for it.....I feel confident when I say for all of us we're looking forward to hearing how you do on this journey!
