The best thing we ever did was to have different banks for the checking and the savings. It's so easy to do the on-line transfer thing and the banks will get the best of it. Been there.
They should both be treated differently when it comes to paying bills.

No problem with that. This whole thing shows that what you thought was "your" money, isn't. Since savings accounts don't pay squat anyway...there's not much sense in having one...just put the money into another free checking account. If everyone did that, the feds would either apply the rule to checking accounts or banks would start paying a decent interest rate on savings to bolster their reserves. (remember back in the days when it was 3%?)

You are allowed 6 transactions (withdrawls) per month made in the manner you made them, if they charged you $10 and you only had 5 transactions I'd make them give the $10 back.

But not all of them are so great...........
a friend just "discovered" that she will now be paying for her checks......well.......the SHIPPING FEE for the checks....$7!!! ---the "checks" are still free!! Yeah........right.
Years ago, had one catch me right in the middle of a CD time period, telling me they would now be charging an $18 per year fee (IRA)....had to take it to the manager to get it reversed until I could get the $ out of the CD w/o a penalty. Often wondered how many others got 'sucked into' that thing.......what a rip!!!
Recently, was going to deposit a check into CU......until they told me they were putting a NINE DAY HOLD on the money.......took it to a bank and got same day credit.
All three were different CU's in this area!!

Actually it was six online transfers from my savings to my checking, and the bank told DH that it is out of their hands, no refund of the ten bucks. It is now the government's ten bucks.
