Default another buyer beware...

When we bought our home...a modular, we were so excited to be in the process of deciding on room sizes and dimensions. We "were young" and just so thrilled to be beginning our dream of family and home ownership. But what we didn't know anything about was carpeting. So we left it in the hands of the company who sold us the place. To make a very long long long story short (and to keep on topic ) We made a huge mistake by not (at that time) learning about carpeting and the do's and don't's of carpet. We have recently discovered that we were dupped. We don't even have carpet pad or rather did have and it has disintegrated. It was the poorest quality around and our carpet has suffered for it. the whole house needs carpet removed and replaced. DH is now a field mgr of a flooring company (though works HARDWOOD) and since he went to work there nearly 3 years ago, we have learned that floor companies are trying to help the consumer with the widespread advise "buy the best quality carpet pad you can afford". It certainally would have made a huge difference in our floors. next time we will know to do so, because your carpet, no matter the quality or cost is truly only as good as the carpet pad. Too bad we had to learn the hard way. (LOL, and DH is putting down a new floor himself this time...woo -hoo wood for us next time)

So true!! Carpet pad is everything!

It is hard to justify spending money on something you can't see, but in the long run, you see it everyday in the life of the carpet.

So glad you brought this up.
