    Default question on stock buying

I have been saving my dollars and would like to buy dh stock (about$1,000 worth) in either home depot or lowes for Christmas. Anyone have experience in buying online etc? I don't really know where to start.

Hey there, I'm not really sure about it. My FH works for Lowes, and I know their stock does really well. I would love to learn more about the stock market. My knowledge is limited to what I learned in high school economics. .

I wish I could help you out, but I'm not quite sure where to look for a reputable online source. I'm reading a couple of finance books now, I'll see if they suggest any good websites. I'd like to start buying some stocks too--we can learn together!

I have no personal experience with stock buying via the internet, but I do know some people who use ETrade and really like it. They often run specials where your first so many trades are free ~ no commission charged.

I've bought through E-Trade but not much. I'm certainly no expert but it cost more than I was expecting it to. Great idea for Christmas, have fun shopping.
