Next week one of our mot daunting debts will be gone. DH's student overdraft. It stands at £1400. So it's not the biggest debt by any means, but all the others have a set date when they'll be paid off. this one had the potential to be like a credit card as it could just have stayed there forever.
So it is going to be a huge relief to be able to transfer some of the money I have just inherited to close this account forever. None of our other debts worry me like this one has.
So we have had a mini celebration! We got soem take out food for the first time in a very long time - it still lasted us for 2 meals so it was worth the expense (2 nights of my not having to cook!)
So apart from getting rid of this debt I will also be able to do the one thing (financially) that I've been wanting to do for ages and that is set up and ISA. I can only (only she says!!!) put in £3000 per year, I may never be able to fill it again, but this year I can. And it will feel so good.
We'll also be able to do some home improvements which will bring our insurance premium down too so worth the investment I think.
Although it is burning a hole in my pocket I have only spent £8 on myself so far (and that was DH's idea). We buy nothing for ourselves until the savings are set up, the debt is paid and the carpet is buoght and paid for!
Smart lady getting rid of that debt as you are. Celebrating with you as another loan bites the dust. Wahoo!
