Let's see. This time last year the only debt we had was our home and our 2 cars.then we had some major expenses come up that were unepected.I don't know what happened we were doing so well had everything we needed to pay the bills, emergency fund etc.Well let's see first our septic tank needed replaced so dh got a credit line for that nad also bought a new lawn mower. What was wrong with the 3 barely running push mowers and 1 half dead riding lawn mower I don't know.He could've put them all together to make one big super lawnmower I guess.Ok so he could use a new one.Or just try to camo our house with the grass. Then I started having tooth pain and deiscoverd that my wisdom teeth were cracking my jaw. They first told me I would have to have my jaw broken, but they ended up taking them out without smashing my face in. So yep that went on the credit line. Then my husband hit a midlife crisis(ha he turned 30)and had to have a 4 wheeler. That's fine and dandy and all that he felt he deserved a toy,but he also got a credit card to pay for it.Plus other purchases were made with it,like the suit he really did have to have for my sisters wedding. We spent months(try 6 months )hunting down a nice used suit.We had to have looked in over 60 thrift stores in our area(yes we are fortunate to have that many)and looked at each of them a dozen times. We came up with nothing. All we could find was brown and the jacket was too small.so we ended up putting that on his credit card(with my ok it was a week before the wedding and we were desperate, and a man needs a good suit atleast I think so)So let's just say from March till July of last year was a rought time for us.............................................................
So Your wodering how much debt did they rack up.And I say they loosely, because if I was more overbearing I would've told him no just like I do my kids and sent him to his room, but he is a grown man and they are in his name.
So here it goes..............A hush covers the room.
We do have it all on one card with 0% intrest for 18 months. All balances have been with 0% intrest rates,we just switched them before the introductory period was over.
And I know,Amanda,I thought you knew better than to do this.Yep I did.In 2002 I had gotten us out of $10,000 in debt and saved up another $8,000 to remodel our kitchen.and dh brought home 37,000 that year. That's almost half of what he made.So I'm ready for this challenge of getting us out of debt fast.
My goal for this year is to pay 9,000 toward our credit card debt and put 6,000 into an emergency fund.

We all have those years Amanda. Seems like when it rains it pours. It's awfully hard to keep a man focused on a frugal goal. When they want something (usually very big!) they want it NOW. Just keep your eye on the ball and work to show him the progress. That usually helps in our situation. It's ok really, we've all been there.

We've had those years too, many moons ago. The thing is you get right back on the frugal bandwagon, set goals as you have and you'll find it gets paid off. Its sticking to the committment that works.
Theres no better time to start than now, but if you disappear again we will know you are off spending money. LOL Prairierose is right we all have those years and this time you know you can get out of that debt. You've done it before!

Amanda- don't worry- you can do it! You have done it before and you will do it again! Just keep your eye on the "prize." I too, have a dh that has a hard time budgeting. He thinks in terms of "right now," not tomorrow! Have faith in your abilities to get back on track, and I am sure you will get there in the end!
