    Default What is your debt?

I think its interested to see how debt others have, I think that it sometimes puts your own debt into perspective....know what I mean.....so how much are you in debt, and what is your biggest debt?

Our house is the biggest debt we have.... we are carrying a debt of

$85,000.... scary when you see it written down...this includes our house and a car.... we owe very little on our one credit card.

Cornelia I'll jump in here. We don't have a mortgage, we don't have any auto loans, we don't carry any credit card debt. Our only debt is our business property. We bought it for $120,000. about 5 yrs. ago and we currently have a balance of approx. $74,500. We hope to have it paid off in 2-3 yrs. with our modified snowball payments instead of 11 more as is in the loan agreement. I can't WAIT till that day dawns.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

*We're debt freeeeeeeee! (including the house)*

My debt is in my siggy. Its $39,000 - for our van and for a tax bill (where I made a huge mistake).

Were hoping to have it all paid by the end of 2006.

My mortgage - $290,000. No, we don't live in a palace, just a median priced house in Southern California! (People are always shocked at the amount).

Otherwise, I have about $9,000 left from a student loan.

Cars, cards, etc, are paid off.

my debt isnt so much in comparison... but it's not all money... it's more of a time issue.

i'd say i'm in debt to about 3000 or 4000 to one person - but in time, duty & obligation.... i'd say more like 10,000 hours - maybe more!

My debt is our mortgage and van. We built our home 19 years ago. It took us 5 years to save the money and 1 year to build it.
The day we were moving into our new home is the day I went into lador with our DD. I was thinking WOW a new home and baby all in one day, life is good.

My joy soon turned to tears. Our DD was Spina Bifida. The medical bills were astonishing even with insurance and the supplies, therapy, and Dr's visits were also adding up. We had to mortgage our home for $25,000.00 just to meet the bills for the first year. She had 7 operations by the time she was 10 months old and 28 to date. During this time my DH's employer said he was dropping the insurance on his employees as he could no longer afford it. 3 months later he shut down his business and DH was unemployeed. He found a job within a week at less than half the pay and the insurance had the ever popular pre-existing clause.

Anyway, we paid that mortgage only to take another one a few years later. Our mortgage is now 77000.00 as we had to modify our home to make it accessable for our DD. We had to purchase a good used van a year ago for DD's transportation. We make several trips a year to her Dr's (specialist) which is 196 miles round trip. We owe $10,100.00 on it.

We have no CC debt and $475.00 in hospital bills for DH.

So...we have a total debt of $87,575.00 as of right now.

I am saving for a lift for the van as DD is getting to heavy for me to lift into the van. She and her chair weight 155 lbs. I have managed to save $2700.00 in a year. I am thinking it will take another 2 years to save for the lift, have it installed and to have the van modified. By that time I hope to have the van paid for.

Our debt including comes to £42,500. (not including mortgage interest!!!)

this includes, mortgage (thankfully we live in what was then an incredibly cheap area). Student loans, mine, Scott's and Scott's loan for his masters. Car - our old car went so we had to get a newer one but this is subsidised by Scott's workplace (so we are only paying for about 1/3 of it). And finally a personal loan that we took out a couple of years ago.

I have about $7230.00 in debt. Most of it is my car payments and car insurance. Then a small portion is Credit Card Debt. I hoping to pay all of my debt within 2 years so I can be debt-free.

We owe $140,000 on our house and that is our only debt right now. We use to owe about $10,000 on a credit card, $18,000 on a student loan, and $5000 to fix my TMJ. A while after I paid off the student loan, I quit my job. It is just lovely to be a stay-at-home mom.

The house loan is only a 15 yr loan and we will pay it off early. By the end of this year, we will be paying more on the principal than we are on the interest!

Our debt is a little under $18000. That is a combination of two credit cards which are almost paid off, a small student loan and a small personal loan.

I have our house, $93000 and a camper, $12500. NO credit card debt!! Right now I'm paying off the camper & then we'll save for a few more months & get a mini van. We'll need to have the van right about the time DD1 will be 16....she'll drive our current 1997 car. I figure the camper will be payed off next summer.

6 years go, (when I quit my job) we had $28000 in ccards, $87000 house, $9000 car, $7000 infertility med bills and we were barely scraping by. So, we've come a *long* way!

This year, I had a bunch of medical bills from a surgery & we wiped out our savings to pay for it.
