Thumbs up our facts and figures

DH and I have lived in this house for 2 years today. It is the first house we have bought, last night we decided to sit down and talk about what we would like to do in the future.

    this is what we discovered.

Our loans will be paid off in April '05, July '08 and May '09.
(So June 1st 2009 you are all invited to a party)

We plan to save the money from the loans that are paid of in '05 and '08. This money will be used to buy a car.

From May '09, £200 per month will go into my pension fund.

We will also overpay 100% of mortgage contributions from this point.

This is all in addition to the savings into our ISA's that we do now.

This means that we have been able to work out approximately how much we would be able to spend on a new/final house. And it's not too bad a figure!

Although it doesn't seem very interesting! things seems more concrete for us now and I feel as though it's easier to focus on plans for the future. We have done quite well in looking at our short-term goals, so the time was right to take it a step further. I think it will be easier to cut down more frivolous expenses now we can see where we can end up if we stick to our plan.

Having a budget and a plan really helps with your future! You and your husband are doing an excellent job! I know you and your husband can do it. That's why I stress to others to make a budget, short term and long term plans and they think I have lost my mind! It's nice coming here and letting others know what we plan on doing with our money. It encourages one another and you don't feel like your alone.

That's great! Your plan sounds wonderful, love that snowballing of payments and ever onward look toward the future.

Isn't that just soooooo encouraging Britbunny? I love to look over our progress and talk about our goals. It makes me feel like I'm in control rather than being at the mercy of it all. WTG!

Sounds like you have a great plan. Keep up the good work. I just started a budget this year and so far it's working out very well. I recommend everyone to try to have a budget.

You guys are doing great. Congratulations on sitting down and talking about the future.

You've also given us all a lot of time to prepare to come to that party.
