Post Discover-Dh says it won't happen- I say I'll darn well try!

I called Discover yesterday to see when the promotional rate of 0% ended. It ends apr. 2.

I told Dh we needed to pay  Discover off by then as they have a high interest rate!. Citi bank raised the required minimum payment. I figure the difference will be around $50 (no more but possibly less.).

Citibank routinely gets 114$. This month the required is 103$ so thats where I'm figuring a 50$ increase on a .5 min due raise.

Discover has been gettin 85$. I believe the min was 65$ last time.

Ok , Discover has a balance of  $ $3,459.85.  I'll say 5 months (march as its due apr 2). 5 months at the $85 payment is only $ 425 so that would leave $3034.85. Not even close! We need an additional $ 606.97. That discover neds a whooping payment combined of $ 697.97 monthly to get paid off in 5 months! Add the extra $50 Citibank will now need and your looking at a tad under $750.

Dh's arguements are..... and my plans are underneath!

The Ef is down to $681.68

    ( I can out $`150 in fri and be closer o $1000)

Dh is totally against me getting another job.

      ( ok he wins there!)

Dh's work slows down in the winter so less $.

( I can budget more carefully and be wiser how we spnd instead of willy nilly. Also since our PMI insurance was dropped there is an extra 24.97 a month!)

My work pay is commision and is all over the board.

( not much I can do here)

    Christmas is comming.

( I plan to start saving all my salon tips to help here and I do have alot toshop for but quite a few are boughten already!)

Prices of everything are way up.

( I can shop smarter! I quit making my reg monday routrip 60 min drive to shop because of gas. However I think I should go back to it. I now grocery shop fri after work at the tore next to the salon. I can do better hittin several stores and aldis. The saving would be worth the gas! There is also a savers thrift store that has .99 tag sales on mon. I used o do fabulously clothing the family cheaply when I hit this store every mon._

He refuses to do without the eatting out. Buying things etc

(put a limit on eatting out to one time a month for Dh and I alone and one time a month as a family)

I don't honestly see an extra $750 a month going to th cc's but I vow to try as hard as possible!!!

Dh also should get a safety  holiday bonus. As long as tips are good and I'm saving them for Christmas most of that bonus should be able to go on the debt.

We should get some tax refund (not sure as Dh is making more this ear and still claimed 4. I claim 0 but tax is never withheld)

I'm going to document paying Discover off here.

Oh another thing. I will start aying Citibank exactly what is due and not extra. Not really any savings to go to Discover as Citi is aising th minimum but still.

Good luck. I think the first step is even though you may not get it all paid you are not throwing up your hands in defeat. I believe you can do it because of the attitude you have.

Woo hoo! I messed up! We owe a bit less than I thought!!! The $3459 I posted above is what we owe on Dh's 2002 kia loan.
We owe 3132 on discover! Now I need to refigure my numbers!

Hers a revised copy/paste with changed numbers from my 1st post since I happily goofed the numbers!

It's going to be great getting that monkey off your back!

Since dinner out is a must for your dh, look for those buy one get one dinners, early bird specials, coupons to help cut those costs way down or do lunch instead of dinner.
    Good luck to you!

I sat down this morning and did nov/dec budgets. Now I realized I forgot to take into account citiband rasing their min payment ( I figure about 50$) so I need to rework it a bit.
I dont see any progress but a few $ until dec 30. Then I should be able to pay a good 350-400 extra.
I decided to be reasonable and expect my checks in nov to restock the ef and buy Christmas.
However I will make some extra in nov on the bill!
