    Default Things you have sold

What things have you sold to pay off your debt/bills?

I am cleaning and organizing the house and there are so many things that I would gladly sell. I want the household to be as simple as possible.

We recently sold dh's dirt bike and paid off the credit card and a hospital bill. We are trying to get as much extra as we can now to pay our car insurance that is coming due so that it doesn't put a burden on our savings.

Philip's beloved star wars toys ($1,000 worth!) on e-bay
Children's clothing to a consignment store
    Coupons on e-bay
    1991 minivan
Various other items in 2 yard sales (clothes, movies, tapes, "junk" etc.) At one of my yard sales I sold our dresser and a whole stack of bathroom towels (didn't like the colors) among other things to one family on our street that was moving away. They practically bought me out at that one.

Some of this is more decluttering than money to pay the bills, but here's a list of oddball stuff we've sold:

    Books
the card cake from our wedding (got $40!)
    purses
    a tea set
hair dye (green, with bleach kit!)
    ski boots
    rollerblades
    DVDs
    VHS tapes
    a old microsope
    spotting scope for a rifle
    Sonicare Toothbrush
DH has sold tons of electronics/computer stuff - Tivo box, TV, stereo components, minidisc recorder, routers, wireless cards, LAN cards, Cordless IP Phone, cables..

I guess sometimes you just have to look at what you have laying around that you think would sell. Since we sell more to declutter than raise cash, we always start items at $1 - and a lot of things sell for $1.

My DH likes to work on cars as a hobby and we have lots of misc. car parts laying around. Car parts sell VERY well on Ebay. You would be surprised what will sell. Anything car-related.

I will agree with most of the above...
    children's clothes
    toys
    lots of books
    videos and dvds
    computer games
gi joes, dh's collections...those sell well

the oddest item I sold was an empty baby wipe container, someone was actually looking for

I have to admit that I purchase a lot of preused items as well...both to save money and to try to recycle as well. Most of my youngest sons (18 months) toys this christmas are second hand purchases!

I'm finding that as money gets tighter, there really isn't anything I won't sell, except for stuff of the kids that they want and use. Anything of mine can go (within reason, of course...not selling off my wedding or engagement rings any time soon) and dh is pretty good at looking at objectively at what he has and letting things that he doesn't use go as well.

I've sold a lot of knick-knacks, books, coupons, stickers, videos, odds and ends, etc. I just sold my breadmaker, and the other bigger items we've sold are 2 tvs, a printer, and a microwave. We actually have another printer that we'll be selling soon that came free with another purchase.
