Default New Strategy Results: Part II

It's time again. Payday is today and went to see what was left in my envelopes. As usual, nothing in the Groceries envelope, I'm still stockpiling. $25 left in the Gas envelope. So cold out I haven't left the house since Tuesday and still have over a quarter tank left in my car, cool. $125 left over in my Extra envelope. Cool, got $150 left over.

Since I only have dd left to buy for at Christmas and I've already decided what to get her, this money is what I'll use. Found her a beaded purse at a yard sale months ago, this is what I'll wrap. Inside this purse I will put a $50 gas card, since she pays for her own gas, and $100 cash, for her to buy whatever she really wants. Dd, done! And only used my left over money. After Christmas is done I will be putting my leftover money towards debt, can't wait! And Christmas was done this year without charging one single thing, using bill money, or wasting much needed debt-reducing bonus money for Christmas gifts. It feels pretty good.

On a positive note, using this new strategy has helped in another way. Last time my bank statement came around there was hardly any balancing to do. Our ATM charges have went to nearly nothing since we are using cash, and the checks are soooo much easier since I only write checks to pay bills now. We went from two whole pages of ATM's and checks to less than a page. It took me a fraction of the time to balance everything, it was great!

    So that's the new update.

    Bring on them baby steps...
    Step 1: done
Step 2: waiting on amount, hubby had followup colonoscopy, I had visit to ER with followup procedure
Step 3: to follow, won't know aim until things settle
Step 4: to follow, currently at 6%
    Step 5: grown child
    Step 6: huge mortgage ANNIHILATED!!
    Step 7: ahhhh....

I found that was a great bonus to going to cash only - balancing your checkbook is so much easier!!
Good for you for finding a system that works for you.

Good for you and enjoy knowing that the bills from Christmas won't be worrying you. Nice present for your Dd, that purse sounds so nice and with those goodies inside, woohoo.
