Taxes!
Ouch..
They went up 62.20 a MONTH!!!!!!! I don't understand how it is possible for the elderly our low income families to pay for their taxes, even if they owned their home free and clear.
It's so scary and sad. I wonder if we may have to move someday just because of our tax bill.
Anyone else been shocked with rising taxes?

Taxes seem to be forever rising...tell you a little story...we did have to move b/c of rising taxes about 8 1/2 yrs ago. We lived in Tomah, Wisconsin and when we were first buying our home, the taxes were 1500(1989-1990)...by the time that 1997 rolled around, we were paying 3000 a year. although everyone protested, the only thing that the city did was break the payments into 4 payments instead of 2(like that did any good)...and this was the tax on a 1100sq ft, 3 bd home.......we couldn't make it, so we relocated to texas, and now, although the tax burden is much easier to bear, it is gradually getting worse...we're up to 1700........although, I believe that it is going up everywhere, the cheapest states for property taxes are missouri and Alaska..........I think we'll be moving again

Our yearly amount almost doubled this year. It doesn't surprise me though because the housing market here is booming and the assessed values of homes have gone up dramatically. I do wonder if there will come a time we can't afford them though.

Ours went up a little....like $40 a year. Ours is $2k for a 1000 sq ft home yearly.
Our valuation has doubled in 8 years.....so obviously the taxes have almost doubled, too.

I just wrote out checks for our annual property taxes last night. $145 total for the 23+ acres plus the house. You guys need to move down here!

Ours haven't gone up since we moved here. We pay $250.00 per year for a 1500 sq. ft house and large lot. Course we also live in the boonies. You could all move here.

Yes, mine did, but I think its because we bought the house in 2004, and 2005 reflected the new assessed value. Taxes always go up when a new house is purchased. Mine went up $30 a month.
