    Talking New here...

Hi All, I have been checking out this forum and I believe I have posted once, but don't know what happened to it. We are in some serious debt. With the money my DH makes ( I am a stay at home mom and I sub as a teachers aide.) we should be doing quite well, but that isn't the case. We got into a spending rut and now we are paying for it. Our goal is to be down to our mortgage and (because he gets a car allowance) a new truck(that we will buy after debt is gone) payment in 2 years. I have figured out the snowball effect and that is where the 2 years came from. We are going to Disney after Christmas next year, instead of gifts, the kids will get the trip. I am starting on that to save us some money.

I have noticed in some of your signatures, that you have a groc. challange and a few others. Is there a thread to these, or just your personal goal? We started saving our change, have a huge jar that we put cash into and that is for Disney, the change is to pay down on debt.

We have a total of $26K that we need to get rid of before we purchase that new truck. YUCK...it took me awhile to admit to the debt, I have my work cut out for me. Plus I need to save 1000 for emergencies and my daughter shows her horse during the summer and with camps and shows we are looking at about 1500. We don't want to cut that, she gets really good grades and that is what she loves to do. We have 2 boys too.

Hopefully I can learn some more around here. I have some ideas...

Welcome to the group. I have been a member for a few years and had mostly read the posts. But of late I have been posting more and it seems to keep my goals more in front of me. So hope to hear from you often and again welcome to the group.

Enjoy the journey. It seems daunting at first but as time goes on and you realize some of your goals it becomes much more enjoyable.
