Question Will your mortgage be paid off before retirement or after retirement?

Again no mortgage here. My brother will be paying for his mortgage up until he dies and then his estate will. I'm so glad we don't have to pay a mortgage now that dh is retired.

    Before.

Even if we didn't pay it off early, I'd be 54 & dh 62. According to my big plan, we'll actually be 43 & 51.

before. If we didn't pay it off early, we'd be 53 or so. Hopefully it'll be done here in 5 to 7 years.

Long before- if we don't pay one extra penny towards our mortgage (but we do every month) I will be 40 when it is paid off, and DH will be 45.

Definetly before. After I get done paying for this car, I am going to start putting extra on my car payments. I hate any kind of payments.

Already done two years ago (I'm in my mid-forties, DH is fifty). We crunched some numbers to get it paid off early, but it's the best thing financially we ever did!

Even if we never pay early, it'll be paid off when I'm 54 and DH is 56 (29 years to go.) But once our other debts are paid off we plan to work on the mortgage getting paid off early.
