Do you ever get tired??
Okay, here goes. I am so tired of thinking about this one bill that I am trying to pay off for the 2006 Debt Challenge.
At the end of this month I will owe less than $3000. I have been able to pay down a lot this month because of selling things and ebay.
Now the problem is that I am tired of thinking about this all the time. By the 18th I will have gone below my goal. I was thinking of the last two weeks of the month - loosening up and not doing eBay. And then go head on in Febuary again for two weeks.
Do any of you become stressed or obsessed with paying this stuff off. How do you handle it when it becomes consuming.
I don't really want to stop working on this but I can see to get other things taken care of.
HELP!!!!!

If I tweak my spreadsheet and review my checkbook one more time I'm pretty sure DH will kill me.
I am taking this weekend off. I don't think there's anything wrong with taking a break, especially since you aren't adding to the debt.

One good reason to budget for entertainment and just plain down time, without it we would all go nuts. Balance and qualilty have to kick in somewhere.

Yes I do become stressed over paying down debt.
I do a couple things when I do:
~I look at my long term goals again and realize it's only for a season
~I go out and splurge one something. I don't mean a large splurge, it just might be going out for dessert, buying a new book, something to reward myself for all the hard work
~I also look at where we've come from and see how well we've done with getting our debt paid off. It helps me to keep focused.

Honestly- my debt stresses me out. I have had anxiety attacks just thinking about it.
The only thing that gets me through is working on my spreadsheets, scheduling those extra payments, and visiting the boards.

freedeal I was going to ask everybody on the forum the same question. Yes, I get sick and tired of paying down my car and mortgage. I'm tired of being frugal, but I know in the long end it will pay off. It's just sometimes I get tired of figuring out where to cut when I have just about cut out everything I can think of. I am thankful for what I have, but it will be nice when I get my dentist payment, car payment and mortgage out of my life. I'm trying to be more frugal than I have every been this year to get these payments out of the way. I'm glad to hear that I'm bot the only one that feels like this at times!

Yes, I can relate. Perhaps, just list a couple things a week. Take a break for a week, then post a couple more things.

You wouldn't be human if every now and then you didn't need a break from this kind of stuff. Just don't add to the debt while you're breaking and you'll be fine.

Okay, I have spent the day just relaxing. Had to go to the grocery store and bought my son and I some candy hearts spent 50 cents and it was well worth it.
I think one thing was that I listed 21 items on eBay and trying to get all that stuff boxed up and shipped out was alot. I think next time I will list no more than 5 items at a time.
Thanks for all of your encouragement. I am sure I'll be needing more as the year progresses. I sure am glad I found this site.

I absolutely get tired! My guilt/stress is over the groceries and eating out spending. I hope when I retire in a few weeks I can cook from scratch more and get a handle on all this.
My suggestion? It helps me to have at least one goal that isn't about frugality - withme it's losing ten pounds. (Okay, who am I kidding - I need to lose 15 pounds.)

I get tired too. Like these other ladies said, I give myself a break, but I don't charge anything while I'm on this "break". It usually makes me remember why we are on this debt free journey. And, each time I go at again, we make a little more progress than before. Good luck.

I agree, sometime you just need a break. Go out and treat yourself, or even just give yourself permission not to think about it! I know thats hard, but try and come up with something else.
And I definetly agree with only 5 things on eBay - DH used to eBay a LOT of things at once and it got to be a pain to keep track of everything, find a box for everything - now we save up items and when we get 5 things we list all 5 on the same day - no more than 5 - and box them up right away, so that when payment comes in they're easier to get right out the door.Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

That would be me.
But I do take breaks from doing some of the "extra" things every so often.
When you're looking at long-term debt repayment (18-24 months or more), you can't go 100 mph constantly or you will burn out.
