Just saved $30 with one phone call
I received credit card statement from a credit card that I have a zero balance on with a $30 charge. It was for the yearly fee. I don't remember ever paying a $30 yearly fee for the use of this card. It's not even a card with perks or a great interest rate. So, I decided since I didn't really need this card that I'd just call and cancel the card. I fully intended to cancel the card. Of course, they wanted to know why I was canceling the card. I told them because of the fee. You can guess their reply. Will you keep the card if we get rid of the fee? I said, of course. So, with one phone call, the fee was taken care of. It's worth making the call!

Way to go! I guess they think they can make more on interest fees than on the $30 yearly fee.

Smart thinking. Why should we as consumers have to pay to carry their credit card? Never made sense to me. I refuse to carry a credit card that has an annual fee.
