ITA with how it happens. Last year we aquired a new bedroom set (only went looking to find a headboard) for a mere $59 a month. Thankfully, it's interest free, but that's $59 a month we could be putting towards our other debt. Then we got a "free" home alarm system (which I still feel is justified by the number of break-ins in our area), but the catch was the committment (two or three years) of $45 a month service. We never shopped around. I so wish we had. Now we're locked in and it may not be the best deal we could have had. I'm sure there are other things I could list here that have contributed to our debt because of the "easy monthly payment." It really bugs me now that I have my eyes open
