Its my therapy too! So much cheaper! LOL

Even if I dont always post I do read everything. I keep trying to thnk of my goal, and count my blessings instead of my hardships, to remember that SO and I are ahead of the game in almost all other categories. NO MORTGAGE!
I do forsee having to get newer cars soon, each have over 169k miles on them...but Ill save that problem for after this one is over. Have a great day!

Megan, There are no problems... just challenges.

And your doing well. It'll be over with soon. Try not to think of it as a weekly thing. That goes by soooo slow. When I have something big going on, I think of it as 'one more mortgage payment'... Or 'when 2 mortgage payments have passed.. this situation will be over'

You KNOW how fast mortgage payments come around. Always works for me.

Thats some good advice Cheryl, as I am getting stress just thinking that i have 4 more weeks of this. But here we go again this weekend, I will update the totals for you guys when I know how much I have made over the weekend.
SO called the K plan place, but for some reason can only get 1800..so $200 less than planned, I hope I do well this weekend. Illl try my very best not to hit anyone with their own empty beer bottles.

    Hi Ladies,

Well I managed not to hit anyone with beer bottles at work, however it was quite hard not to feel like I needed to, a local bar (one of the drinking holes, okay, the only drinking hole) was shut down last week and had their license pulled so I think every drinker in the valley showed up at Applebee's this weekend. I hear that it is straigtened out and will be open again this week. Whew!

Well the totals for this week are much better, I made $250 on Friday, $168 on Saturday, plus my $2.13 hr and my 3 hours at Kitchen tate for pancake cooking which is $8.50.

So we are moving along and hopefully this weekend will be good also. Although they dont have me opening on Fri (for some odd reason) so that will be cutting some money. Maybe someone will switch with me.

Delta has decided to aprove the crown claim (as they should) but have sent the payment to the dentist. ARGH! So I emailed them today and will have to wait on that. We NEED that money, and they are being really bad about claims lately. We pay the premium, we should get the service.. .

Sunday I mowed the grass, went to the grocery store, cleaned up the kitchen, cooked dinner, did laundry washed sheets, and had to stay up till midnight to register for classes (if I waited till morning the classes I needed would be gone). Then this am got up early and went to gyn to get pills, went to man to order handmade box for my best friend who is graduating in May...and now I am here doing laundry and homework and forums. I am tired. I think Ill be turning in early. Have a great week ladies!

    Oh my gosh ladies.
Delta Dental has "inadvertently sent the claim check to Dr. Christopher Malone." They apologize for any inconvienence. Ha! Now I have to chase down that check in another town so I get it ASAP. Argh!!

Megan I just saw this post. But just wanted to say you are doing a great job with pushing to pay the IRS off in 6 weeks. My dh had a business when we met and it closed about 6 months later. Long story on that one. But when everything was said and done he owed $18,000 in back taxes. He paid as much as he could after auctioning off the store items. But still had a large balance. He called the IRS and they sent him form to fill out since he was unemployed and they stated the all or some would be reduced. Then he paid about $300 per month and we got no more notices for 2 years, so we thought maybe they wrote the rest off. lol
In september 2005 he got a letter stating he still owed close to $7,000. He called and was told that due to the computer system it got lost, and that they just found a bunch of files that they updated and his was one of them. THey also wanted the amount paid within two months. I told them that with health issues and the auto accident we were in there was no way we could do it. So we make monthly payments and yes we get interest attached each month. But it works for us. The goal is to have it paid off by August.
Even though this debt is from 98 and 99 they said we could take as long as we wanted. That would be great for them since they would get the interest and penalties money.
I just don't want to see you get yourself burned out. Because once you pay the taxes you will still need to pay the interest and penalties. That amount still could be high. So take care of yourself.

    Hi,

We sent the check yesterday. I also sent a "reasobable letter of explanation" (the IRS wording for a good excuse. I know that we will probably get assessed for penaties, that they probably will not abate them. BUT. If we had not paid the tax in full, the interest and penalties would have been astronimically higher. They would have doubled, they told us. So now, we wait for the penalty bill. And if it is too large, I will go back to my doubles and pay that too. SO is still on overtime, and I will still be doing a double this weekend, because its already scheduled, plus I need to re-up my bank account.

Thanks Ladies for all of your support!!! WE DID IT!!!

Not quite a ray of sunshine -- and no one really likes to think of it this way -- but he has, in essence, had a $6500 interest free loan since 2001. Imagine what that could be worth had it been invested!

And, re the wedding? I think ours cost $500 -- dress included (my exquisitely sophisticated friend ordered it from Spiegel [she was stationed in Iceland and couldn't stand not being able to help me, as I'm fashion-challenged!] and had it sent: a $100 ivory silk brocade cocktail dress. Perfect fit, perfect dress.) My husband said he knew he was doubly sure wanted to marry me when I didn't want the whole names-on-napkins etc. etc. shebang. All I could think about was what we could do with the money: Master's degree, down payment on a house, and so on. (I'm not materialistic, just practical. Boring, too, I know, but then again, we have zero debt!)

I always say that if people spent as much time worrying about their marriages as they do about their weddings.... oh, well, that's another post.

Just, please don't go into debt over your wedding! We absolutely loved our very simple one because our loved ones were there and we were getting married! That's what we cared about -- the commitment.

Blessings to you as you work through this very difficult situation. Six weeks is so very short; I wish I knew something about IRS resolution methods to give more practical advice there.

    Mary,

Thanks for the great advice re wedding. I have NO intention of going into debt over that! I am not planning on a names on napkins thing, but do want to have family friends there, whatever we do actually do, it willbe on a cash basis.

RE IRS resolution methods. They really arent very helpful...sure you can make payments..then you can bay gazillions MORE in penalties, etc. So I am glad we pait it, felt great to send the check! Now we are building back our bank accts.
Your dress sounds cool, I will have to check out spiegel!
