Default I think I've found my motivation...

Can jealousy be a motivator??? See, DH has gone hunting for the week so I went and visited his cousin at her new house. Yes, its her house and even more shocking, she's only a year older than myself, and I'm almost 23. She has the most gorgeous house I've ever seen!!! And she's currently renovating it and oh man! I sat there for the longest time thinking, why cant I have this????

She only went to college for a year and her dad paid for it. She was never set back any money. I'm finishing my forth year of university this year with a whole bunch of debt, so I know why I can't have a house, but still....soooo jealous!!!

I figure I'm gonna turn that jealousy into debt-fighting power!!!

Not to mention, I spilled coffee all over my laptop yesterday and as I was blow drying it, about 200 ants came pouring out of it. I knew we had an ant problem but I've never seen something so disgusting. I also, for the first time EVER saw, not one, but 2 silverfish bug things....one was the size of a loonie!!!!

So I think the house and the bugs are all signs for me to get my act together and start paying off my debt!!!!

I hope i can keep this going!!!

Sorry about the ant invasion of your laptop. I think that gives new meaning to "having a bug in your computer" .

good luck! you can do it!

and to answer the question - I think if you can turn your jealousy into a positive and not let it make you bitter - use it to your advantage and don't feel guilty about it

Just a thought....lots of people who "appear" to be doing well, new house, cars, clothes and vacations etc., are sinking in debt.

Make sure you don't fall into more debt trying to keep up with the Jones and the Smiths.

It is ok to be a Brown!

PS Both my sisters have big new houses and yes they can afford it. I have a smaller house but I am happy with it.

I agree with the above posts. If you can turn the jealousy into a positive that is wonderful. But don't go in debt trying to keep up with anyone. A LOT of people have STUFF, but they OWE for it.

lol -- "Size of a loonie". You must be a fellow Canuck!

Too many bugs for my liking -- I have a few silverfish crawling around, but they're everywhere in this city. But ants? I'd have to fumigate. I hate hate HATE little tiny clusters of bugs (only reason I've never seriously considered going into crime scene investigation).

But jealousy certainly can be a motivator! Go with it!

I am like the rest. I hope that you can make this into something postive for you. I am trying to do the same. I am so jeouls at my brother that he has a nicer house than me. Growing up I was always the saver. Yet here he is with the better house. But my frist goal is to get out of debt frist before I tackle that project. Good luck to you.

A loonie sized bug would freak me out too.......on farms we see everything....just not in my house. Good luck with that. I had ants in our old camper and we put in those little ant traps and that seemed to work. I operated from a position of jealousy too from time to time. My best friend spends like crazy. I love to watch it, she has a lot of people wrapped around her finger. On the other hand I am the one she calls when she is arguing with her husband over money. I get a birds eye view of the whole situation and trust me.......I'll take mine any day of the week!
