    Default Monthy financial goals...question

hi!! I was wondering how you all kept up with your monthly financial goals? like one of mine is to contribute $25 each month to each of my kids 529 plans. do you just use a calender? what can I do so that I won't forget and I can keep track of my progress?

~I post all my goals in the Goals and Dreams section, then I print out the page and put it eye level on my fridge. I see it everytime I get something out so my goals are always fresh in my mind.~

With regard to the 529, I have my 2 kiddo's plans through Fidelity Investments. I have them take the money out automatically 2 times a month. I never have to think about it.

Once on the 15th for my son and once on the 30th of the month for my daughter, that way, I don't feel the money missing from my checking out and don't forget to do it.

Autowithdrawl is the way to go!

My kids' 529 accounts are funded by auto-deduction as well. As for my goals - I have a little calendar that I printed out (index card sized) on which I mark off my no-spend days, exercise commitment days, freebies and no dining out days. I have it in my day planner (still a paper and pen type girl- no blackberry here) so I see it several times a day. Posting in the different challenges links helps too because then I think about it "gee, if I buy the candy bar and blow my no-spend day, the other folks will know I am falling down on the job on this" - lol.

529's are a really awesome way to fund your child's education too.

I have 50$ direct deposited out of every paycheck to ds's savings account. Everytime he hits 500$ I pull it and put it in a c.d.

As for dh's and I's financial goals, I work at the bank we bank with. So I monitor my account very closely. If I see that we only have 1 125$ daycare bill left before we get paid again and we still have 500$ in our checking, I move around 250$ to savings.

I just monitor the crap out of our money.
