Default Any thoughts on hiring a CFP?

    Certified Financial Planner?

They endorse no type of services and only review your finances, and recommend suggestions...
I found one who charges $500.00 for 2 hours here in San Diego.

I am very interested in going to one.
I think I would pay for one with money from the income tax refund.

I really think I would benefit, since I have some questions regarding some issues with our financing.

Mainly, how to invest in online retirement funds, owning 2 homes and planning to retire early if possible.
Also, obtaining financial freedom as soon as possible!

    Any advice is appreciated.

BTW They offer a 4 day financial boot camp for $1800.00...a bit more than I am willing to spend!

That's a good rate for a FP. I worked for one that was commissioned based and he pushed selling financial plans and his company's mutual funds and products. A basic financial plan cost $400 so paying $500 for 2 hours of non-agenda planning is well worth it. Good luck!

    Thanks for the advice!
This is a fee only one and he does not push products.

    My gut says go!

He seems really down to earth on the website, he has a video and just seems like a really helpful guy.
I know $500.00 is ALOT of money for 2 hours,. so I will talk fast and I hope he does as well!

I am so glad I got some advice from someone in the know!

    Thanks again!

There is so much free information available on the web about financial planning that I, personally, would 1) do my own research and make my own financial plans; 2) use the $500 to start my retirement investments. It's not that hard.

I think the FP is ripping you off charging $250 per hour. If not, then I'm in the wrong line of work...

Well, I agree. Plus I get free CFP from Calpers. Just found that out today.

I would see a CFP if my financial situation was more - ummm - complicated? I mean, we don't own any property or have millions of dollars in investments accounts, so right now I can keep track of it all pretty easily and get tons of advice on the web. If we keep going at the same pace that we are though, I might get past my "comfort point" and I'd consider going to one to make sure that I was on track. And $500 for two hours doesn't sound that bad.
