    Default DH is converting, slowly but surely..

    DH can be the cutest thing sometimes. I've turned into "FrugalFannie" lately and I'm always watching the grocery ads as they come in the mail, i know the loss leaders by heart and dont even have to write them down. I've got prices memorized on where to get certain things and how much is too much on various household "necessities".. and the other day DH called me AT WORK, while he was working too and said that he had thought up some great ideas for saving money. i will list them below...

    -making lunch for work out of last nights leftovers
    -using the shed in the backyard as storage for bulk purchases at their lowest possible costs. its currently empty.
    -getting a deep freezer

    ok... ok, i know and you know that these are not new ideas but i thought it was the cutest thing that he would call me to tell me these things and that he was actually EXCITED about the fact that he had thought of them.

    So funny, it always cracks me up when my husband comes up with an idea all on his.....even when it is something that has been done before by so many people. glad to see your husband is converting to your frugal ways, wish my dh would get on board with me.

    lol What a sweetie. Good for you for letting him "come up" with these great ideas. Just let him go on with it -- as long as he's enjoying it, he'll stick with it.

    my dh is the same way....

    Almost a year ago, I suggested going to a financial planner....we can get some free appointments through military one source. DH said no.

    After watching 20/20 with me and paging thru a Dave Ramsey book, he says Honey, let's go to a financial planner.

    I just smiled and agreed.

    How exciting for you. I thought that I had my DH on the way, but in the last 6 weeks his overtime had stopped at work, then it has started a bit again, well he worked yesterday OT, and TURNED DOWN today to watch football. We just had received our real estate taxes too and they had gone up, they are due 2/23. Now I know he is not on board all the way. Kinda of made me mad about it, since I do the finances.

    That is great that your dh has gotten on the frugal bandwagon. Keep encouraging him to add more thoughts and ideas to frugal living.

    My DH is slowly changing for the better too. He was impressed that I paid all my CC's off, now he is doing the same. He paid one of his off just this month, now he's working on his other one and his dentist bill. I've been shouldering a bit more of the household expenses to help him. And we used to eat out more and he always paid but we eat at home most of the time now and I know that is helping him too.
    “When you get to the end of all the light you know
    and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
    faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
    you will be given something solid to stand on,
    or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller

    “Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
    there are signs that the world is speedily
    coming to an end;
    bribery and corruption are common; children no
    longer obey their parents;
    every man wants to write a book and the
    end of the world is evidently approaching.”
    — From a translation of an inscription on
    an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.

    God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
    courage to change the things I can,
    and the wisdom to know the difference

    Good for you Marie! I know sometimes it has to be "their idea" before they'll actually go along with the program.

    I can still remember the first real "frugal" comment my DH said to me - it was after a grocery trip and we had just gone to bed, and he leaned over and said..

    (here I am, waiting for "I love you" or "Good night"...)

    "I can't believe we got 5 cannisters of bread crumbs for $.99 each!"

    LOL

    Here's to your DH "coming up" with many more frugal ideas!!!
