    Default Turbo Tax Tizzy!!!!!!!

I spent a good part of my afternoon doing my taxes on turbo tax. This is the first year I have done this, when I went to e-file federal and state, it said that the residentital credit form won't be ready until January 31st and my Ohio state form until February 2nd. Has this happened to any of you??? I was wanting my refund back to pay my real estate taxes that went up due to reassessments that were unexpected. I wonder if I can still e-file my state one on my own?

I've never heard of that but I am sure you can file your state on your own, Our state and IRS started accepting E-Filed returns on 1/12 I would assume your state would too, go to your states website and check it out.

The only thing I needed to have when I filed my state online was last years tax liability or adjusted gross income and SS#. Let us know how it goes.

Filing online is so fast and when I checked the status of our refund I was told approx. 1 more week and it would be direct deposited. We already received our federal refund check in the mail yesterday.

Wow I was reading their benefits of using the i-file:

Ohio I-File performs calculations for you, reducing the need to use the tax tables or manually perform mathematical calculations thereby reducing the chance for error.
Ohio I-File eliminates the need for you to search through an instruction booklet for help. Now you can simply click on for your line item instructions.

Ohio I-File will speed up your filing process. Once you input your tax information, simply select "I Agree - File My Return" and your tax return is filed with the Ohio Department of Taxation. You will immediately receive a unique confirmation number that lets you know you have filed.
Ohio I-File will let you print your return as filed so that you will have a copy for your records. You can return anytime after you file your return until 12/1 of the calendar year in which you filed to obtain a copy of your return. You can also save your return to your Personal Computer if your Personal Computer has the tools to support this function.

Ohio I-File is paperless. You no longer need to send us a copy of your return or your W-2’s.

Ohio I-File will allow for refunds to be received in as little as 7 to 10 days from the date you file.

Ohio I-File allows you to file and pay your taxes 24 hours a day, seven days a week, which means increased flexibility for you. In addition, you can prepare and file your tax return early in the season, but schedule your payment for anytime up to the tax due date of April 16th.

Best of all Ohio I-File is FREE!

You could get your refund in 7-10 days, wow I am jealous!

Update: I deleted the turbo tax version of my state filing and went to the Ohio website and did it there. Ohio is now done, yes, it was free. I usually have done the Ohio tax over the phone: telefile but wanted to do it on the computer this year , I am relieved that the state one is done and refund should be sometime next week. I will update on how long it takes, FrugalMomof3 thanks for all of the info, I appreciate your efforts to help me very much. When I went back to the turbo tax, it says still that it doesn't have the residential credit form approved yet for turbotax, it will be now be January 31st.

    I feel for ya.

I spent a few days getting all the info into taxcut. Then had to wait until the 25th for Oklahoma's version. Then had to pay for Oklahoma's state program (which was still cheaper than having someone else do it). Unfortunately, we can't e-file for free, so I would have had to pay for both federal and state e-filing (which would have still been cheaper ) ~IF~ they didn't keep rejecting it, 3 times now, because apparently my hubby wasn't born on the day he was born or his ss# isn't what it says on his ss card. ????? Ugh!! Beyond aggravation!!

Thankfully I wasn't charged for the e-filing, I am out the dough for the Oklahoma program, though, and I now consider it 'stupid tax' on my part, and I took our stuff my my regular accountant that will charge me $75 for everything. (who, btw, has filed it for us for the past years with the same birthdate and ss# on dh and never had a problem. Go figure).

Durnit, I just wanted to do it myself this year!!! *stomps foot pouting*

    Bring on them baby steps...
    Step 1: done
Step 2: waiting on amount, hubby had followup colonoscopy, I had visit to ER with followup procedure
Step 3: to follow, won't know aim until things settle
Step 4: to follow, currently at 6%
    Step 5: grown child
    Step 6: huge mortgage ANNIHILATED!!
    Step 7: ahhhh....

I wish our state had free e-filing.
Well, they do have it, but you have to qualify based on income
The best we could find was taxact.com w/ free federal filing and $12.95 state filing.

I work for a software company and we develop tax software. The software is for CPA's to do tax returns. The IRS is very slow this year to finalize their forms, we are still waiting for some so that we can finalize our software for the year. I know it is frustrating, but everyone is feeling it! We have users calling every day asking when we are going to finalize our software.

Pammy, I would definitely have your hubby check to make sure his birthdate and SS# match what the IRS has and the Social Security Administration has. It could cause problems in the future.
