What kinds of insurance do you have?
Just wondering.
We have:
Health Insurance
Dental Insurance
an "Accident" insurance policy from Aflac
a life insurance policy for me ($30,000)
a life insurance policy for DS ($20,000)
car insurance
renter's insurance
I was thinking about this lately because I've been going through our bills and it seems crazy on how many types of insurance we're offered - insurance on our cell phones in case they break, pre-paid legal insurance, vision insurance, insurance on almost every appliance and electronic device - I'm not saying that they're all useless, just that it seems like there are a ton of "insurance" plans everywhere!Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

We have:
Life insurance on Philip ($200,000)
Life insurance on me ($100,000)
Health Insurance which includes an HSA (all paid for by us, not an employer)
Car insurance
Homeowners' Insurance
We want to get Disability for Philip, like Dave Ramsey recommends, but we can't really afford it right now. Same thing for identity insurance. We'd like to eventually add both of those. As for other types of insurance we're the people who NEVER even get extended warranties so I doubt we're going to be getting any kind of "consumer" insurance things (like cell phones or the other things you mentioned).

Insurance Policies:
Health includes vision, pharmacy, and dental and we participate in FSA (Flex Spending Account)in the amount of $5000 per year. The health insurance is more important than anything else.
Full coverage on both vehicles.
Life insurance
Cancer policy
Homeowner's insurance
Disability insurance
Extended Warranties
Dmil gifts us our cell phones and coverage - she carries the insurance on them. It is a good thing, we have to get replacements about every 4-6 months because they end up in a dog's mouth or the washer.
We also have an extended warranty on our Durango. It's a good thing as well since a Durango is the biggest piece of cr** vehicle ever made. Will never get another Durango again - but that is a whole other thread. We have more than gotten our money's worth out of that warranty.
We do a warranty on our house in addition to the insurance and we include the pool in it.
I get replacement warranties/policies on all of the kid's video games - only $2 a game and has been a lifesaver for them and me.DD (19)

We have...
* Health Insurance (including prescription and vision)
* Dental Insurance
* Life Insurance (each of us covered $400,000)
* Pre-paid Legal Insurance (includes Identity Theft)
* Comprehensive Car Insurance on two cars (plus we paid additional at the time we purchased mother-in-law's car to have sort of a loan insurance that will pay off the entire loan in the event that the car is totaled, as most insurance companies pay far less than the remaining loan amount when a car is totaled, plus with her driving record...we decided it was a prudent investment for $400
)
* Home Owner's Insurance
* Life Insurance on mother-in-law (a small policy that all of the kids pay into so that we're not suddenly out of pocket funeral expenses like we were with father-in-law)
* Disability Insurance (through work...may look into upping this policy at some point)
We never do the extended warranties or anything like that. We don't have too much use for or interest in them. We're pretty gentle with things. Maybe once we have a kid our views will change. He may very well be a holy terror.
