Has Your Bank Account Ever Neen Negative??
I am such an idiot. I was counting on my checks to be deposited on time so I spent a little money on groceries from my checking out account hoping my checks would come in before my house payment was taken out. NOPE, housepayment went through before my checks have come and now my check account is negative $113.00. Plus they charge $31 for overdraft. I am stressing out because I am waiting for my comission checks to come before my account gets even more charges.
My husband says I need to quit gambling with my account. I agree! I told him from now on I am saving money just in case.

We had direct deposit at my last job. We got paid every other Tues. I decided to be productive one payday morning and paid a couple of bills on line before going to work, assuming my direct deposit would be there that day as it was pay day. Needless to say, the company accountant had some issues that week and our deposits were made 24 hours late. Lesson learned for me, I was so stressed out over the whole situation! I no longer spend money I'm not sure I have, not worth the stress.

Yes, I think being scared and stressed out teaches us a lesson.. I am soooooo going to start saving emergency money. I just wish my checks would come to I could get it back in the positive.

When we were first married dh was good at spending money out of the account and not telling me, causing a couple of checks to bounce. And we had one issue with a place dh used to work for, the paycheck bounced, and that caused my rent check to bounce. What I do now to maintain a buffer in the checking account is I round up all checks and debit card purchases and I round down all deposits.

I used to do the same that thing that you did. I use to hope that use the money before a specific check was cashed. I always screwed myself and was hit with so many bank charges it wasn't funny.
Now I make sure that I have $ in the bank so that I can cover the checks because I don't want to pay the $30 overdraft fee and also one bank that I had charged you $5 for every day your account was negative. Yuck.
Good Luck!Sue

It's happened to me a few times. Thankfully I have overdraft protection so the check(s) didn't bounce.

I don't have it happen often, but it did happen not too long ago. I misjudged how much money was in the account. Thank god I had the overdraft protection on the account.

Happens every now and then. Thank god we have our credit card through the same bank and if there is not enough in the checking, it takes it from the credit card (Which is always paid off at the end of the month) and its only a $5 fee instead of $33 fee.

I was in the 1st trimester of my first pregnancy and I was sooooo tired. I was still working and was having a hard time getting anything except the absolute necessary done. I accidently added a deposit for $1900 twice in my register. Therefore, I thought I had a lot more money in the account than what I actually did. I bounced around 15 checks. They were all little, but we live in a small town and I felt totally humiliated going from place to place to make it right. I also felt like some kind of a criminal and like the police were going to show up at my door to haul me off for writing bad checks all over town! And talk about expensive! My McDonald's hamburger and fries ended up costing me $45! And the funny thing was...I had a check for $7000 sitting in my wallet...and had just been too tired to go to the bank to deposit it. 9 years later it is a distant memory and a funny story, especially for my DH to tell. Don't be too hard on yourself, most people have made the mistake at one time or another.
