    My grandparents phoned me last night and said that they are starting retirement funds for all of their grandchildren. They're starting each of us off with $5000! This is pretty great for me because I haven't had the money to start one myself. This way I will at least have SOMETHING started, and then when I am able I can add to it.

    That is wonderful, newresolve. My parents started savings accounts for all of their grandchildren when they were born. My DDs still have theirs today at ages 18 and 16. We always put half of the money they got for gifts and such and now that they work, they save the majority of their paychecks.

    That's great! My dad started an IRA for me when I graduated college. I need to be adding more to it.
