I feel sick about money.
This time its bad, really bad. We have NO EF and barely make it month to month. After I only have 7$ for save at the end of every month. Well, a while back our morgage went way up (400 a month) and we fell behind. I have been behind for a while and now the morgage company has demanded the full payment Its well over 4,000. They want the month we are behind , this months and next months on the first of August. I have 1,900 in the bank and one more paycheck comeing this month. All in all I will be 1,700 dollars short and thats if I dont spend a dime for this rest of this month. .. NO we can not barrow it , no we dont have any credit cards and nothing left to sell. I could pick up work but we are only talking about three weeks and that wont be long enough to make that much money. I have no idea what to do,

forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but... if you can't afford your current house, wouldn't it make sense to sell it and get a smaller/cheaper one?

AnnK, I'm sorry to hear that you're in such a tight spot. Just remember that the mortgage co. can't get blood out of a turnip.... . If you call them and talk to them again, ask to speak to a supervisor, explain the situation and tell them that they have to work with you on this (they don't want the house back) I'll bet you can work something out. Do you have an ARM? Is that what caused it to go up recently? Maybe you could roll it over to a fixed rate....? I know that costs money but maybe you have enough equity to do that?

I don't want to be the snarky voice of reason, but there ARE ways to make this work. Cut the internet for a while if it's not necessary for work and go down to the most basic phone package. Start eating vegetarian at least three times per week instead of having meat with every meal. Take the kids (temporarily) out of extra-curricular activities. Tell DH that he has to sell his brand new pin-striped car (tell him it's either the car or the house -- he can pick. Sorry if I sound shallow, but from what you tell us about him, I'm not quite fond of him, really). Or, like newresolve said, why not sell the house and buy a smaller one? We can all help you brainstorm how to cut costs. Give us a breakdown of your bills and let us help you figure out ways to bring this down.

Can you post your budget, so we can point out areas to trim costs? Would you be able to pay the mortgage once you're caught up? Is there any way to earn extra income?
Would you consider downsizing to an apartment?

Big hugs
being sent your way. Like Naderbug and Newresolve said, it sounds like some pretty drastic budget adjustments are needed right now. If you have an ARM, do you qualify for any of the programs that have been made available to help those with high interest rate ARMs to convert to a fixed rate mortgage as PrairieRose suggested?

From your post I would suggest the following:
As prairerose said the bank doesn't want the house back so how about the following, it sounds like you could make 2 payments but not 3.......contact the bank and ask if you can make the 2 payments and break down the 3rd payment to have it paid off at the end of the year. And make sure if they agree that you don't fall behind again. I think the would accept this deal.

Check out craigs list for gigs in your area that you could do for quick cash. Again, you probably won't make up the whole difference, but even if you come up a couple hundred short, I don't think the bank will want the house (like the others said). Good luck. Wishing you well.

I hope that things will work out. Try calling the bank and see what you can work out, all they can say is NO. I will be praying for you and your husband to work it all out. Keep us posted.
