    Default FPU for Kids

Has anyone used the FPU for Kids by Dave Ramsey. Because of our savings and budget plan, it is affecting the lifestyle our kids have become accostomed to. They are doing quite well, but being 4 and 7, they don't really understand the concept of saving. We just started a chore/allowance system last week, which is going great, but they still don't understand where the "saved" money goes. My oldest get $5 a week and he has spend/save/donations and the younger one gets $3 a week broken down the same way. I would love for them to develop better habits then dh and I developed growing up. Dave's system seems to follow the same basic priniciples that we want for a children, but with an added teaching tool. It would be $29 to get both kids up and running, so that is a pretty decent chunk of change, but would be worth it, if it is a great program...so what do ya'll know and think?

JMHO but if you already are teaching a good system its not worth it.
If they were teenagers just starting out with a new job or something then maybe... to me $58.00 could be spent better. jmho

    I agree.

My kids get allowance too. This fall, when my 8yo starts multiplication, the Bank of Mom will start giving interest on anything she saves, that's not already in an account (ie allowances). Not only will she get the practice with the multiplication, it will be a hands-on lesson about how money can grow if you let it.
