lost my low interest credit card
I can't beleive they are doing this but in two weeks my Capital one card goes from 5.90% to 15.98%
Reason??? They say because interest is going up,, I can either accept the new numbers, or deny it, they cancel my card & I can pay the normal payments until paid in full.. Never been late over limit, nothing..
Well, I wanted to get rid of the cards,, I wanted my terms not theirs.. this one is to keep my credit score up & going, it is only in my name..
Guess I'll just let it go.. and make payments.. Kindsa ticks me off, I've had this card for years!!

Any chance of transferring it over?
A lot of times when they threatened to raise me, I called asked how much the payoff was and stated that unless the interest remained the same I had another low % card that I could be giving my business to and I would just get rid of them. Give it a shot. If not I'd be transferring outta there!

Wow. Another reason to hate Capital One. I agree with PAValleygrl, a bit of theatening may keep your interest low. The worse they can tell you is no and you switch companies.

There is no way to even talk to them, you have to call the automated phone system to take care of this. Its like a either go with it or not, more or less they're saying. "go somewhere else "
What stinks is I use this for medical emergencies for the cats. Guess I'll have to find something else.

Call the regular customer service line and hit 0. You'll get a person.

I would suggest trying to get another one from some where else and transferring. I have two capital one cards and if they do that to me they're done. (mine are a little higher in interest) ... Listen to this. The one I have had the longest is at a fixed rate of 11.9% and limit 500. Later they sent me another one with variable, started at 9.99% also with 500 limit. Recently I got a card with a fixed rate of 8.99% from Juniper and about a week later they sent me a letter saying that my limit was being raised to $2000!!! Not on the fixed one I've had the longest but on the variable which is currently at 15.9%!
Thank goodness I don't have much on that card. They're very sneaky

A lot of times when I get those dang "automated call systems" I press the number to report "lost or stolen" cards.....I then get transferred to a rep and state that I don't have a card to report, BUT there was NO OTHER way to get a live person on the line.....they have ALWAYS been able to help me, and if not them they get another LIVE person on the line.

they did the same thing to my mother and wouldn't budge on the interest and when mom said fine i'll just switch to another card, they didn't care. they told her to do what she wanted. sheesh. when mbna did that to me i turned them over to the bbb. within the same week they called me personally to tell me they were dropping my interest to lower then what it was originally.

Whatever the change, get it in writing.

That's depressing to me, because Capital One was the only one who would give me a card, so it's the only card I currently have. I have a variable rate too, and it's still at under 15% right now. I'm trying to pay it off, but I was thinking of making minimum payments until I could pay off the back taxes. Guess I'll go ahead and pay it off, just in case they jack up the interest rate on me.

they are really pushy...try not to close the card that you have because that will really lower you credit rate...just try to keep it paid up if possible...
